Title: wtf - someone stole my highbeam indicator lens
Post by: jake42 on September 20, 2006, 06:44:40 PM
So i came out of work today and someone took my highbeam indicator lens.  The little blue one right under the tach. It was there when I got to work today. They had to have pried the damn thing off with a pen knife or something.. Idiots.

SO does anyone have a spare gauge cluster laying around that they can give me that little blue lens from?

Jake

The high beam is notorious for falling out.  It may have come out and you might have thought it was there the whole time.

I'm sure there's someplace to get something that should work. Lots of bikes have a simmilar style, call arround the bike shops (or jack one off the showroom  :icon_twisted:  )  Maybee even at radio shack or other electrical supply store.

Odds of someone stealing a high beam indicator are very small.  Just like the odds of someone stealing my licence plate are very small.  I drove by my bike at work a couple of weeks ago and noticed it wasn't there anymore.  The constant vibration caused by our bikes is the same as the vibes cause by a impact hammer/wrench/jack hammer.  The wave loosens things up over time like bulbs and licence plate brackets.  Then again, somebody might have boosted it.

I'm sure you could get one from the dealer for a couple bucks.  Suzuki is good in that they let you order just about every little part on the bike.

Yeah, try to get a carburetor piston guide, or the o-ring under it without buying an entire carb body.  No, you didn't read that incorrectly.  You have to buy an entire carburetor body just to get an o-ring if you buy from suzuki.

Ya I guess somethings are alittle harder to get individual, but if you have a good parts man then he can probably hook you up with the individual part instead of having you spend tons.

except they're not Suzuki carbs, they're Mikuni carbs, something like that you'd have to see about getting it from Mikuni.

And where can I contact Mikuni to order carburetor parts?

I'm guessing that one person's lens fell off.  That person stole someone else's lens.  That person assumed it fell off, and stole one from yet another person.  This led to the common perception that the lenses tend to fall off, so no one really minds when one is stolen, because they just think it was lost.  There is actually only one person at a time with a missing lens.  So if someone buys one instead of stealing it, the cycle will be ended.

Only someone who's lived in the SF bay area would know there's a Pittsburg, CA!

But it still wasn't purple, so I'm still innocent. I get blamed for EVERYTHING around here! :P

Yea and we used to call it pigs-burg. Lovely town that ... and now to imagine as a place where townhouses sell for 3/4 million bucks ... very refreshing approach to getting mugged.
Cool.
