Looking sweet! You gotta LOVE it when a lot of hard work pays off.
Those bars look great!
Sugestions:
-fender chop (you've done it already, haven't you? :? check my site for closeups on license plate relocation page or bbanjos post of losing rear fender-same thing)
-sv650 headlight (clear lens-looks great. check my site for info)
-buell flyscreen available off ebay or new from HD dealer for $60. Zip tie it to headlight mounts.
-polish wheel edges
just some thoughts...
Bike is coming together!
Dirt bike aluminium handle bars...never leave home wihtout it...Unless I am riding something other than the virago 535...Anyway get rid of that chest pillow bar...It ruins the looks of that clean gold bar...Just IMHO...
Cool.
Srinath.

and if we all actually listened to you....we would ALL be riding a GS with belt drive/16 inch wheels/crap shin tires/tastles on the handgrips/and ride a bike only to work :nana:
now who's the oppinionated SHLEP?
Well 16 inch rear tire is a must IMHO...Cheng shaZam! is an option - of course mine will be chen shaZam!...but there is better tires available you know...Also choice of 70-90 profiles are also available in 16's, you get your choice of tires and sizes...yea I know 90's are there in 17's too but they jack up the back end too much, eat up fender clearance (i have scraped it a few times) and look wrong. Honestly 16's are what should have been on it. Tire choice is far better. Of course if by tire choice you mean super sticky, ultra sticky, and so sticky you will wear it smooth by the time you ride it to Walmart... (or Neiman Marcus you fancy shwancy bourgouies french beret wearing, designer coffee drinking snob)...then yes 17's in the 130-140 wides are hard to beat. A 16 inch 130/90 is just the same as the 130-70/17 for size and is much better for mileage.
Cool.
Srinath.
quit hijacking my thread you two!
but thanks for the tire advice (? more like opinions ;) )
luckily the tires on the bike are in great shape, and the tires that came on the parts bike are in even better shape, so I'm set for tires for at least a little while.
no I haven't done a fender chop yet. while the fender is deffinatly funny looking, it doesn't really bother me too much. (you think the gs is bad? just go look at the sv1000. that thing is atrocious!)
I'll probably chop it anyway, just to show off the new yellow sv shock i'll be putting on. I'd also like to put a rear hugger on it, and there's really no point in putting a hugger on if the rear fender is still stock length.
hey, does that purdy green tank have any rust in it??????
Yep. sorry.
the thing leaks like a sive. the paint has huge cracks and scrapes in it and there's a 3 inch dent in the left side.
still interested? :thumb:
NOPE!!!!!
somebody wanted a gas cap the other day.....
That rocks you got free Progressives.
Those bars do kick-a$$.
You gonig to sell the 89's clip-ons?
Of course now that it will drive straight what you waiting for? Make it legal
That was the first thing that I was going to ask John......what happened to the clip-ons!
Great work mrslush!
"what happened to the clip-ons! "
:) ;)
Keep your eyes pealed on ebay.
my dad's the one who actually owns the bike so he's selling them.
and the gas cap might still be ok.
EDIT: never mind. just checked. the top mounting blot is completly cracked away from the rest of the rim.
thanks for the comments everybody.
keep the sugestions coming. I'm trying to decide which mods I want/need and which one's I can afford.
you sure you don't want 16 inch tires/wheels????
Looks Great!! Damn, I thought I had the coolest GS in Seattle.
So does that mean you'll be joining us on the 12th???
R.
Yes.
at least for now.
like i said, the stock tires are in almost new condition. (I've heard they're crap, but why spend money when you don't half to?)
and the tires on the parts bike (140/70's) have maybe 100 miles on them.
I'll use up both sets before I even think about putting a different wheel on.
I'd love to join you on the 12th but i have a softball tournament. let me know when you guys have another ride though and I'll see if I can make it.
watch the Meet & Greet forum....no doubt we'll all try to get together soon...
