Title: Air Filter problem...HELP
Post by: shitluck on September 23, 2006, 02:29:42 PM
I have an aftermarket K&N air filter model #RU-2970.  i took it off to work with the carbs and replace the fuel line.  now i can't get it back on there.  the egg shape of the carb intake doesn't match the round shape of the filter.  does anyone know how i can remedy this without dropping a bunch of cash?

If it helps, it's a 92 gs500e.

I really want to get my bike working again before it gets too cold.

Welcome!

Can you rotate the filter or the clamps so they do fit?  A little WD40 to lube things up so it'll slip on easier.

And, please change your name.

Egg shape?

+1

You must not have stock carbs if the intake is egg-shaped.  Can you get pics?

My carbs are oval or egg shaped where the filter/airbox attaches (99 model) so that's fine. Put a little oil on the filter where it goes on the carbs it will go, make sure it isn't upside down either.
