First off, great site! I picked up a 91 GS500 and the carbs were a bit gummy. So, I've followed your detailed instructions and have taken them apart and cleaned them well. I was getting gas flowing back up through the air intake so I figured that I needed to replace all of the o rings and such. I ordered a rebuild kit that had "all" the parts needed. It didn't have the o ring for the slider guide which I will go out and get tomorrow. It did have 3 o rings. I know where 2 go and can't figure out the 3rd. I was hoping you could help. The first when on the float bowl plastic part, the second when on the diaphragm cover vacuum tube spot and the 3rd is the smallest of all 3. I don't know where it goes and I'd hate to miss one of them while I have it apart.
Any suggestions?
thanks,
Fred
Smaller than the vacuum tube o-ring? Weird, I don't know what it could be?
Well, I figured it out. I dirlled out the brass plug and its the 0 ring on the air/fuel mixture screw.
Where did you get that rebuild kit from? The site that is always recommended on this forum was out of stock last I checked.
nm, spoke too soon, i went back and they have them in stock now that I'm ready to put my carbs back on the bike. Oh well, if my problems not fixed I'll just pick up some of those.
hey set your float bowl height that was my prob when i had gas leacking thur air filter. try that 100% improvement for me!...dont forget to replace o-rings at the slide covers the small ones under the cover's nipple....
