Hello, I´m new owner of a GS500E '89
I´m from Spain so sorry for my english
I´ve got a problem, a few days ago I remove the fuel tank and when I pull of one of the hose
(the reserve hose i think) the metallic outlet come out too
What I have to do to put it in its place again?
Have to use any special glue or just insert pressing?
Thanks
Antonio
hmmm...tough question. i just discovered an adhesive called "Automotive GOOP" here in the States. it comes in a tube and dries semi-hard. supposed to resist gasoline and act as a sealer and adhesive. i would try that and then jam the brass oulet back into the petcock.
buena suerte!
That seems to happen quite often. Happened to me too when I tried to remove the hose that probably was never removed before in all 13 year of bike's life.
No real need for any adhesive, though it wouldn't hurt to put some. Just tap it gently back into the tank's petcock with a rubber mallet.

Yes, using a plastic hammer usually will fix it. I've had no problems with mine.
I'd try to clean up the fitting as much as possible as well as the petcock. Lightly sand the fitting and put just a little JB weld on there, it's really strong and is gas and oil proof. Once I crashed my KZ400 and it got a hole poked in the crank case. I patched it up with a coke can and JB weld and was good to go :thumb:
good luck
