has anyone ever fuel injected there gs500 is it even possible?
Rangerbrown is fitting a turbo to his, and he has promised to unveil it on the 13th Jan. He might be able to help you
you can fuel inject anything kinda easily with Mega Squirt, someone posted it awhile back, dont think anyone did it though.
yes
search
i'll answer, but i ain't looking it up for lazy people
search....lazy....here is a teaser :flipoff:
Here are more details:
The throttle bodies are from a 1994 Polaris Indy Classic EFI Snowmobile off eBay $35 I had to make an adapter to accomodate the inlet port angles (details available to those who need them). It came with the TPS, fuel pressure reg., fuel rail and linkages intact. Everything fit 95%.
The EFI is Megasquirt which took a HELL OF A LOT of dialing in I would have been up the creek had I not been bailed out by a great guy in VA (see the site credits). The MS forum is probably more help now though. You really need a dyno and a laptop to properly dial it in.
LOTS OF WORK!!!!! ... specially making the harness. Even now, I'm working out bugs. Frinstance, the fuel pump I used killed the bike halfway down a 1/4 mile drag test. Too much current draw on the poor old GS battery and charging system when the RPM's go up and the injectors start cranking away, and the fuel pump is going non-stop. The Megasquirt calls for a switched fuel pump, but I said what the heck and by-passed adding another relay circuit and just had it always on for my dinky LS passes.
Lots of sensors needed to be added: cylinder temp, air temp, MAP (manifold air pressure), O2 bung needed to be welded to the exhaust, uh, lessee ... fuel pump with switch, a boat-load of fuses called for a new fuse panel (7-10) and a long ground strip with two separate large gauge taps to the frame. Did I mention a bigger battery? I'm going to try a Gold Wing battery next. Injectors are a bit large for a non turbo application, so count on down-sizing. MAP tap was off the inlet port but needed a vacuum accumulator to buffer out the vac surges (details available). Lots more ... Probably about $250-$1000 to outfit depending on how you score.
:o
Who in their right mind would call their product "squirt"...
Uhhhh .... who in their right mind will fuel inject a GS ... O0
Cool.
Srinath.
Point
But then, DL doesn't market his crazy.
Markus?
I am not surprised my friend.......BTW do you know the Aussies call sellotape Durex?

And the Italians have an aluminium alloy also called Durex that they like to make bicycle wheel rims out off. (halfway down the list)

wellcome to the tard-farm.
Yeah, Megasquirt is the way to go. I've MS'ed a big turbo'd Audi A4 with good success. I didn't find it too difficult, but then again I'm a computer engineer and microcontrollers and embedded systems like MS are what I do with my life.
check out www.megasquirt.info (http://www.megasquirt.info) for some good info.
If you MS the GS, you can also use it to drive the ignition coil thus allowing you to tune the timing.
but yeah, pretty much what werase said. You can use the throttle bodies, fuel pump, and fuel pressure regulator from just about anything. Personally, I'd get my throttle bodies from a GSXR, and get the rest from some crappy 4-banger econo-car in the junk yard.
Honestly though, I see no real reason to make the GS EFI unless you're making some sick race engine or turboing it and you want better fueling.

I can see people doing it just to reduce the warmup time.
the gs weenies won't buy a real jet kit because some tardo said that 40 pilots and 150's(or what ever) is better than a dyno sheet from a company that produces ..... jet kits
fuel injection/turbo/good suspension is unobtanium for ya'll cheap bastards.....
Why would anyone want to spend the time and money on this? You'd have to hawe way too much time and money on your hands. but whatever gets you off :thumb:
the guy who did it.....installed it on a bonneville SALT flat racer.....

Sweet.
Yeah carbs are good until you start going forced induction, then all hell breaks loose. (And it eats your head when you go from open to closed throttle rapidly.)

See, now, I actually understood that. So DL, from now on, you have to speak in spanish!
