Anyone know of a good source for the progressive fork springs?
Just got a 2001 and man is that thing undersprung! I can bottom it out just by looking @ it! :o Iam 185lbs, so it has to be the first mod!!! Thanks, Rob
I didn't get progressives, I got constant spring rate Sonic Springs. Good price and awsome handling upgrade :thumb:
Yeah i ordered race tech springs from ron ayers. I am also about 180-185 lbs and 6ft tall. I just received them fri night and have to install them. They cost $92 plus shipping which was like $7.
ebay has them for fairly cheap.
Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse sells the Proggies for 49.99 on ebay, but the shipping was $19 for me. I called their 1-800 number and got them for $64 shipped, not too bad.

Yea, I figured ~$10 for shipping was reasonable for the spring kit. $20 was a little high. When the girl quoted me $64 shipped I just said go for it, it's still cheaper than anywhere else.
Ok, thanx for the info! Now I'd like to start a controversy.... Progressive or straight rate? I know its been talked about before, but let's see... Suzuki should be ashamed for putting those springs on an otherwise good bike, beginner bike or not.
Sonic springs, what do ya think? I'm 6'2, 185, and its a handful under heavy breaks, seems like a progressive spring would ramp up and handle it... On the other hand, straight springs may not blow through its travel. Thanks for everyones input! :)
I put in Sonic Springs .9 kg springs in July and love what they did to the ride of the bike. I highly recommend them. I went with the .9 because I'm 6'5 245 lbs, and the spring calculator put me between .9 and .95.

Man Am I screwed. :laugh: :laugh: I'm 6'4" and 245+LB I can think of my fork springs and they Bottom out. :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: Of couse I will be putting in a 30+ pound Motor so that will help a Bit.
It really depends on what sort of riding you're going to do, I think. If it's mostly street riding and commuting then Progressives will be fine, but if you do sport and track riding, then straight rate is the way to go. I do all of the above, but went with straight rate because I like the predictability. However, since I'm a flyweight, my straight rate spring rate is below any manufactured stiffness. The nearest one is above race rate stiffness, but it feels awesome (or I just got used to it).
For Sonic Springs, just get them from their website.
go with race tech, they even come with a metal spacer. no need to cut the original spacer or buy some pvc pipe. come on for $92 bucks, you can't beat thay when the racetech site sells em for $110.
