Title: Not Ready To Let Go!
Post by: Squirrel on October 02, 2006, 06:37:28 AM
I'm back!  You may not remember me as I was only on here about a month when my bike was stolen, but I got a new one last Friday.

I am a newbie, and when my bike was stolen I was just ready to start driving in traffic.  I've now ridden in everything except the snow and ice!!  The bike was up in Deerwood (near Brainerd) and I live in the cities.  I drove the bike about 150 miles in the cold rain, on dirt roads, in traffic (it was rush hour when I got back near the cities), on wet leaves, you name it.

I'M NOT READY TO STORE IT YET!!!

Is there anyone else in the cities still not ready for winter?  I still want to do some riding!

Hopefully I'll have some pics of my new baby soon.

Laura

Congrats Laura! :thumb:

I hope the insurance companies didn't give you too much of a hard time about the stolen bike and the value.

It's not over until there's snow on the road.  When the snow melts, it's no longer over.  I ride if the roads are clean and the temp is higher than 30F.

Hey Feared!

I'm from Austin, Texas, just down the road from Killeen.  I moved up here in 2000.   I really miss the TexMex food and chicken fried steaks!!

Yeah, just keep riding the thing  :thumb: bikes seem to do better with regular use than being put in storage. Get yourself a snowmobile suit and keep going, just be carefull of ice.
Keep the shiney side up

Hey Squirrel,

Glad to hear you're back on two wheels.  That must have been quite a trip for you.  I've been doing the rush hour traffic thing around here all summer and I swear traffic has been getting worse every week.  The worst part of my commute is 35W between 494 and downtown Minneapolis.

First thursday at Dulono's is this week if you're interested in going.  I will probably be there, but may change my mind if it's too rainy and cold (I know, I know I'm a wimp... At the moment the forcast looks ok though)

90~95 all week here...I can't see wanting to move away from Texas.  Riding weather nearly year round and beautiful country to ride in.  Hearing that texmex and chicken fried steaks are rare elsewhere I believe I'll just stay here.

I hate you and all those who live in the southern states...  I've only got about 2 months left in this riding season.

i dont ever store the bike unless I go on a deployment or vacation. ive got caught in a snow storm or two , what really sux is when you get caught riding in an ice storm. ice hurts lol  although the winter time is good to do alot of mods on the bike ;)

I feel your pain.  Check this out. (http://www.gerbing.com/heat/glovesg3.html).  I have the heated glove liners, but if I could do it again, I'd buy the full gloves instead.
