well, lets just say... i am very serously considering coming off the road.
its just that much better.
there was only one time i had a really problem, and second quessed my self. so i got the bike up right and road it into the grass.
there were other cornners that the gs can spin up the rear if you over far enough and carrying it on your nee. (damn b-45s) best advise is never close that throtle. pin that fucker open, it is not a r1 or a gix 600. thats the great thing about the 500.
i would pass and get 3/4 of the way to the next turn (on the long strites) and then the biger bike would blow me off the bike. only to see me again as i late braked and pulled away in the conners.
i should have some pictures latter. no video this time but i am going to tally in nov so i should be set up then.
i need to find a crash bar (case gard) any help? if not it's going to be some custom sliders.
o yea, these race tech springs are the shaZam!. i love them sooo much
but if only i had like 10-15 more hp would i be better off. (indo time , in do time)
Yeah, I slipped my rear tire out and lowsided hammering the throttle coming out of a turn. I'm not going to blame the BT45 (although the Sport Demons arrived the same day I was already at the track ), but I just plain didn't know the GS would do that. Now I know. Thankfully I chose to learn that lesson on the track, where you can lowside and pick up and drive away from it.
What would you do with the extra 10-15 hp? It sounds like you did just fine without it. Showing the bigger bikes who's who in the corners is what the GS is for.
Incidentally, after my first track day I find myself driving much slower on the street. Just because there's no real point to going nuts. I know how hard I can ride, and how far over I can lean, so there's just no point trying to prove anything. Now I can just ride and enjoy the ride. (And enjoy the heightened skills I learned at the track.)
Of course I'm still going to go back to the track as often as I can to hammer it out again. But the track experience has made me much more sane on the street. I recommend it to everyone who can scrape the money together.
If you're going to commit to the track, I'd take the fairing off and get the Motech case gurards. Check the Wiki for a link. I'm going to draft up some guards to go with the F and see about getting them made. I'll post when I get it done.
if i get the gaurds, i will make the fit.
the 10-15 (read back TURBO) hp i am looking for will give me the linie speed i need. the cornners are fine. i mean, damn come on a 600 and 636 can barly well not bearly but pull away slowly IMO.
also,, my gs doesnt seem to have a rev limit, it i didnt try but there was a few times that i didnt shift be cause i was limited and went well past 12,000 rpm
shifting here with out the clutch = wheely in 3rd gear as you come out of a sharp right hander.
details, on new tires. how are dunlop D208 sm supermoto
140/70-17 rear
120/70-17 front
both radial
I don't know what you said.
:) that's great! I hope you post some pictures soon. It doesn't matter how much power you have, there will always be a bigger more powerful bike passing you on the straights. Trust me when I say that nothing feels better than passing the bigger bikes on the outside of a turn. It's so horribly insulting.. sort of like saying.. "Hey! Even if I take a crappy line through this turn, not nearly as clean and as fast as I'd like, I can still pass you because you suck ass.".
Oh, and if you haven't already, invest in some good gear. You're going to fall.. it's only a question of time.
my gear lol is worth more than my bike. safey is #1 for me.

Jigga What? 208's? More Details Please?
thats what i am asking,i know nothing of them.
thats not the size thats the model. i am sure there a shaZam! load sticker than bt45's
jigga rig= ghetto rig.
A turbo would probally be overkill for 10-15hp. I bet you could get close to that by shaving the cylinder or head to bump up the compression to 11:1 or so, cams, and a port job.
I think 11:1 would run okay on premium on the street if you don't beat it too much, and run race gas or avgas at the track. Octane boost would probally be enough though. If you're going to get a turbo, it would be cheaper just to buy a faster bike. Have fun
I'm asking for some feedback from another forum about the 208sm's..... Most people are saying that Sport Demons are a better value, although not necessarily any more sticky.
if that makes sense.
i am curious cause they (208s) are listing for 85-90 bucks a pop on bikebandit.
yea there new. word is there sticky but not super sticky.
All twins I have ever ridden (inline or not) have been temperamental about liking the revs matched to avoid rear wheel skid.
I totally know what you mean about overtaking in the corners. On my one trip to the mountains in north georgia, I totally schooled my riding buddies on the twisties and chicanes (VFR-750 and GSXR-600). The GS will flick over and lean with just a turn of the head, which really simplifies the process of finding a good line through a turn

most supersports do that too (turn on a head nod), my cbr is telepathic, as are the R6/gsxr600/zx6r/etc....its the rider.
well i found a katana 600 running. for 500. 97 year
little cuting and welding and bam the gs is up 100 cc's
i had all this time though that the katana's were water cooled
