I heard that putting stickers on your helmet can weaken the "structural integrity of the helmet?" Anyone here know about the validity of this? I googled it and found that for regular hard-hats they don't recommend putting stickers on because the adhesive weakens the plastic, but I dunno if this is true for motorcycle helmets too.

some camicals can melt plastic like fuel (dout thats in stickers tho) but you get what i mean

Motorcycle helmets are clear coated, so wouldn't the clear coat protect the actual surface of the helmet from the stickers? :dunno_white:

and to hijack, if you read the literature that comes with your helmet, it generally says do not put stickers on because they weaken the structural integrity. The Shoei site doesn't mention stickers, but the pamphlet with my RF did.

Actually when I was travelling in Europe .. I'd always say I was Canadian ... seemed to get a better response .. esp from the Romans :)

A friend of mine said that another biker told him about the stickers and he started freaking out about the stupidity of it. I had heard that this was possible, but since I'm no industrial engineer I have no idea if it's possible or not. I just wanted to prove his ignorance for flying off the handle over something so stupid w/o even doing a little research on it first.

The adhesive of some stickers is an acetate polomer (aka acidic) and can break down plastic nylon compounds. I havn't a clue to what helmets or what stickers have this resedue on the back of them.....Just put the sticker on your jacket :icon_rolleyes:
