Ok, I've got a 2001, great shape! New sonic sorings and bar will be here friday, can't wait! Next is pipe, vance and h, k and n filter, and rejet. The question.... How do I know which kit to get? Stage 1, stage 3? Just put the kit in and forget the dyno machine @ the shop? Do the kits have the perfect size jets? Am I making any scence? :o I want the most I can get out of her with these mods, don't really care if I loose a few mph's. Remember, a fool can ask more questions than a wise man can answer! Thanx for your time!!!!
dont think you get much more the 45hp. 40hp is stock well it was on my 06. personaly i think your better off getting a bigger bike. if you thrash your gs500 as i have it wont last long trust me i know
Now that's positive feedback.....

Don't listen to DL.. He's kind of the village idiot when it comes to bikes. Might be an OK guy.. but the way he rides is no example to be setting for yourself. He's had more problems from his factory new '06 than I've had from my '02 and the current '05 combined. He thrashes his bike waaaaaay beyond what suzuki ever intended for the cheapie starter bike GS crowd. Then complains when it breaks.
ANYWAY, moving on. Stage 3 is probably your best bet, from my understanding of the dynojet kits. HOWEVER, that being said, I would highly recommend you do a search for "2001 rejet" on the forum, and see what jets other people are using in their 2001s that have been rejetted, then order your jets from sudco.com. It will work out cheaper, and allow you to fine tune the operation of your bike more.
Thanx nice guy! Yeah, I'm not tryn to polish a turd... Just wanna get the most out of it!.... So what do ya think a bout let'n them put it on the dyno and useing that to jet it? Or just stick in the stage 3's? Thanx!
Having them jet it on the dyno is the way to go, that will show you the most concrete results. Most of us don't have access to a dyno (or the $$), so we do it with jets from sudco, and use our "butt dyno" instead. If you've got the money, let the shop do it all while dynoing it, and you should get optimum results. Just my $.02, wait for the smarter people to check in before you do anything.
