Thankz to Ken, I got my shock today. I couldn't wait, so after dinner, I started the install.
Almost a full 3 hours!!!
My fault tho... I tried to do the lazy way, and most of the time was in the dark with a small shop light that was f*cking HOT. I had to put it about a foot away from me.
Anyway, I finally got it installed, and I have sad news...
I can no longer flatfoot it.
BUT WHO THE F*CK CARES?!?!?!? My fat ass doesn't squish the bike anymore.
WOOOOOOT!!!
the 1-2-3 are rebound adjustments.....
try them all and see which you like best....it you ride 2-up....you will set it to the opposite one
now you need the kat F/E sitting in my basement........

The only modification I needed to do was put a cork in my mouth to prevent all the cursing from coming out. My little sister was outside with me.
Also, when I got it, there was some words writen in those paint markers "98 Kat"

Eh?
Which way is the lazy way? :icon_confused:
I would have thought the lazy way was to get someone else to do it for you

I tried, but the only person who piped up was Pastrami. But she's like 4-6 hours away from me.
LAZY WAY:
Not having a centerstand, I jacked up the rear by putting cinder blocks and wood under the exhaust where the two pipes join into one. I unbolted the stock shock and that slipped out with a tilt of the bike. I didn't wanna unbolt the dogbones.
Actually, I COULDN'T unbolt them. They're on so damn tight!!! I was able to slide the kat shock in through an opening above the chain after I jacked the bike up even higher.
 I had a similar problem...
I pulled the tank and airbox... Dropped that Buddha Loves You in through the top! Those bolts on the dogbones would NOT move and I didn't have a long enough socket wrench or a breaker bar. :icon_confused:

I was thinking about tank and airbox, but like I said... It was dark. With my luck, I'd switch the lines and fuel would go directly into the airbox or something stupid like that.
And my breaker bar is in my mom's car. My mom's car is being fixed in the garage. The garage is a long two miles on foot.
I didn't even pull the fuel lines. :flipoff: Just leaned the tank off...
Talk about the lazy way.

I had the rear all jacked up in the air, so I didn't wanna just balance the tank on the frame.

That's a really bad idea. Next time remove the exhaust and use the frame to lift. You put all the weight of the bike directly on the exhaust ports in the aluminum head when you do it your way :nono:
Other people have done it my way, and all portable motorcycle lifts do it this way too.
Not all the weight is on the headers. most of the weight is on the exhaust hanger right above the can. Now if THAT bolt is taken out, you'll be in SERIOUS shaZam!! I accidentally did this. luckily, nothing happened to the bike. I figured it out quick enough to put the bolt back in.
C'mon... Like An ever does anything right.

There's this spot on a certain road where there's too much of a concaved shape, and normally I have to avoid it by choosing the left lane. I decided to test it out... (a bit faster than normal)
HOLY SHITE! The dip felt even less than it actually was! The front still needs work, but I'd say the rear is GOLDEN!
 I did the same thing when I put my Kat shock on... I went down the worst road I could think of... And it's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
I was laughing the hole time, but my back hurt pretty badly when I got home... I decided to lower the rebound by one. :thumb:
