I recently started riding and bought a 98 GS500e off my brother in law. It runs pretty good, looks great and fits well, but when I stop really suddenly (mainly from practicing in the parking lots) even with the clutch in the engine cuts out. At first I figured I was out of gas, so I filled up, I've still noticed it at times. Also, when I've been out for 30 minutes or so, the bike rev's a bit high (like 3k) at idle even with the choke off. It doesn't do that All the time, but sometimes. My brother in law re-jet'd it this summer and the bike has a Vance in Hines exhaust. Other than these 2 little problems, I can't complain about it. Any suggestions?

First thought is the floats are set too low. Second is, it's still too lean.

+1 on the floats being too low. This could cause the bike to run lean too, so set the float level before messing with the jets. There is a chart on here somewhere of different jets people have used with different setups with good results. Of course check for vac leaks while you're messing with the things, and make sure that the choke isn't kicking in while your bars are turned hard one way or another
Make sure you have your idle set after the bike is fully warmed up too.

yea +2 on the floats if it stall quickly when you come to a quick stop.
The rise in idle is from it being a tinny winny bit lean, Let the bike warm up really really well thenn adjust your air screw mixtures, and reset your idle.
Oh yeah good point, it's probally just the idle mixture screw if it rides fine otherwise. Set your float level first though, it may take care of it. :thumb:
