Title: i dropped my bike and know it wont start?
Post by: adam.88 on October 07, 2006, 07:09:17 AM
It fell over when it was parked and the end of the clutch lever broke off. Now it wont even turn over, but the lights and the horn still work. Any ideas on what could have happened and if i'd be able to fix it myself? Thakns in advance.

Check the wires going into the switches on the bars.  Many people who dropped their GS had stated that the wires get loose.

Is you bike turning over and wont start or will it not turn at all, if it wont turn over it is most likely the clutch wire.  It goes into the clutch perch and can sometimes get damaged when the bike falls over.

yes, check the clutch perch. the bike has two kill switches. One at the kicstand, so you cant start the bike or run the bike in gear with it down, and another on the clutch preventing you from starting the bike without the clutch pulled in. This second one gets easily damaged in a drop.

Yeah it's most likley the clutch wire, if it isn't just loose, the switch could be dammaged. That ony affects the starter though so you can still bump start it and it'll run fine.
