Title: Adventures from Upstate NY, mourning a GS
Post by: Onlypastrana199 on October 08, 2006, 06:42:22 AM
There's a new Yami dealer that had a grand opening yesterday not too far from my house so a friend and I went and checked out the northern dealers that we hadn't been to yet. On one of our stops we wandered into this "******** Customs" shop. I'm editing the name because I don't want to flame the business they seemed like nice people...mostly...

Inside this shop we go to talking with this...rather large (300+) seemingly squidly 20's boy...now I'm not pointing out his weight simply to point out his weight. We started talking about my wreck and my gs and he told me he had one out back. So I went and checked out this Early 90's seemed like a 92 to me gs. He had a Vance and Hines on it, but other than that and some crash bars, nothing noticeable. I asked him about his jetting, said he had a K&N and they dynojet stage two....then..this.. :cookoo: starts trying to sell me his gs for $1600. Now don't get me wrong because IF i had the money i would have bought this gs and rescued it from what he said next.

Apparently...this gs..is his stunt bike. He put a 12t on it. He wheelies it...when I asked him if he upgraded the forks he goes "no this is my third pair of forks they keep bending on me for some reason" DUH!!!!! This poor GS which is seemingly pretty clean is being used and abused like a lil prison Buddha Loves You for this big ass guy. Poor poor GS...i made excuses at that point and left...

On a happier note, I went to Hyosung NY also. I got to check out the whole line and let me tell you, it was difficult to see that comet 650. I liked it better than the SV (price wise too)...now..who wants to donate their 01+ so I can do a hyosung comet 250 tail swap on it? I measured, the seat will fit perfectly around the gstanks, and the subframe is better made with crossmembers and theres a 2.9L storage area under the split pillion seat. It'd be kick ass...AJ won't let me do it to hers and I have a 93 so I cant do it on mine....someone has to want to let me!!!! Here's a quick crappy photochop

While you're at it you might as well throw on those inverted forks and the gauge cluster as well.

OK the forks = amazing and the guage cluster was cool! none of that bezel shaZam! to be all smashed...I was actually thinking about finding a guage cluster and sticking it on my bike...plus after a front end swap...you'd have a dual disk front!

Don't forget the rear wheel too. Might be a bolt in. 150 section rubber.

I happen to know of a kid who forgot to put oil in his motor  :cookoo: and blew a piston...frame and tail are good $400 which i personally think would be worth it for those swaps....otherwise..ebay?

If you want to come out to Seattle, I'd let you swap mine out.   :thumb:

Especially if it's yellow.   :thumb: :thumb:
