Title: Adusting a Kat 6 shock
Post by: Chilly Willy on October 10, 2006, 03:55:15 PM
Quick question:

How do you adjust a Katana 600 shock?  It has the standard preload notches at the bottom, but it has a black plastic dial up at the top.  What does that dial adjust for and how is it different from the preload?

Thanks,

Chilly Willy

The dial adjust rebound damping. It changes how quickly the shock rebounds from compression. Preload simply loads the spring before you get on the bike.

Thanks Alpha,

Any recommended settings for both given that I'm 250# or so?

I'm ~185 with gear...  I have mine set to 3 Pre-Load (the big dial) and 2 Rebound (the little black dial).

If you search around for a Suspension Adjustment How To, it'll explain in detail what each one will do for the general ride and the symptoms of having it too high or too low.
