I ride my bike year 'round and last winter I got really wet and I'm kind of tired of it. I used to make fun of everyone with windshields, and called them wimpy little girly men :laugh: but I think I'm about to break down and buy one too :cry: I figure that if you're riding in the winter in the rain, you're less of a wimp than the guy in the minivan.

Anyways, I'm looking for a larger windshield to keep as much wind and rain off of me as possible. I also want one that shields my hands. I found these two, but was wondering iif anyone knows where else to get a simmilar shield for under $150 or if anyone has any experience with something like this. Thanks :cheers:

I've had a Plexi 2 type windshield on all my bikes for 22 years now. Good all around protection from cold and rain. Pic of my present 02 GS500 ready for winter use:

I've put a smaller Spitfire on it for summers for the last few years, just enough to take the load off the chest for comfortable 400-500 mile interstate days at an indicated 75-80 mph and still gives a lot more wind in the face feel than the Plexi 2 does:

I got soaking wet so many times the last two years that I just may go back to leaving the Plexi 2 on year around again. With the Plexi 2, I just get wet from the neck up and from the knees down in anything but the heaviest of rains while moving along allowing time to get over and get the rain gear on.

Those JC Whitney prices are too high, I paid $80 plus shipping for the last Plexi 2 I bought a few years ago and they are probably more like $100-110 now from MAW or Chaparral. I bought the Spitfire for about $50 locally.

I have had the Plexifairing 3 from national cycle for over a year now and it is great in bad weather.

It extends down farther than the Plexifairing 2 gsJack has, to give some added protection to your lower legs, and is a little higher also.

yeah, a goldwing or just move down to texas like you!

I like that plexifairing 3, it seems to have the most protection, especially for your legs. Anyone know of a place to get it or something simmilar for cheap?

I got tired of trying to figure out the t/s fit with the Plexi 3 and replaced front t/s's with some led displays I had around. ymmv.

I get to ride in the rain a fair bit, my screen is very like GSJack's plexi 2. It is a Slipstreamer Turbo. The shape and size is almost identical. The Plexi is slightly easier to fit and is made for rapid removal whereas the slipstreamer likes to be left on all year round. I made my choice because i did not want to change season-to-season and the Slipstreamer was abouit 20% less when I bought mine.

Not only do these shields chuck the rain over your head, if you adjust it right, but they also trow a lot of water away from your hands/gloves. Either one is brilliant.
