no when you do wheelies you drift all over the place because you don't know what you're doing.  You lack skill.

Hi, my name is Turd and I just wanted to ride this thread all of the way to the TF.  Cause that's where its headed.

Change your rear wheel out if you want wider tires.  Just to save you a bit of cash and time; your still gonna drift all over the place.

Yeah but wheelies aren't screwed up because ofyour tire size.  I can wheelie without wobbling all over the place on my TL with a 190 just as well as I can a BMX.  It's balance and skill...not "flatter" tires...

The Katana swap is in the FAQ section on this site, and on the wiki page someone else already linked to in this thread.

Don't worry about these haters, everyone rides for their own reasons.  I'd bet that every person who just ragged on you for wheelies has done a few dozen of them on their bikes too.

Wish you clowns wouldn't use the word hate, it's such an ugly word. I don't 'hate' you stunters but I  think that youse are a bit touched.

As for wheelies, a wheelie can be a thing of beauty, I've never done one cause I suck at riding & I'm too scared of stacking it.

Proof you can't do something as simple as holding a straight line.  Your posture is also horrid...you're all stiff.  This is probably why you lack control.

http://s37.photobucket.com/albums/e53/zmeg/?action=view&current=videostand.flv

You're still not holding a line...even doing one of the simplest stunts out there.  This is also not a wheelie.

http://s37.photobucket.com/albums/e53/zmeg/?action=view&current=videoscrape.flv

What the f%$k was that?  You're cool because you can pop her up and almost fall off trying to walk her?  Another one of the simplest stunts and you still couldn't manage a straight line...or to carry it out.

Wow, somone (makenzie71) needs to ease off and get laid or something. Sheesh what got you all riled up  :cookoo: who cares if somone is doing stunts? what he isn't good enough for you or something? Man relax.

And back to the original subject, you can fit up to a 150 tire on the back but if you don't go to a wider wheel then it won't help any. Your contact patch won't get any larger and it may actually get a little smaller. going to a 50 series may help  :dunno_white:
Anyways good luck 505

dont listen to the hotheads of this forum & get discouraged 505. I dont really see anyone else posting up videos like that & asking for comments/suggestions. You gotta keep in mind that some people here (ahem...) like to talk a lot of crap through trough their keyboards, knowing they dont have to back any of it up. that's kind of pathetic. Kudos to you for posting up those videos & being real.

anyways, you've got quite a few options; you'll see about a million threads come up if you search. A bigger tire might not make THAT much of a difference, but if you want it, it makes you feel better about your wheelies, and is encouraging; then do it. I dont really understand why people seem to have a problem with that, but whatever. next.

the kat 4.5" wheel is by far the easiest. the only challenging thing is bending the torque rod, but you'll have to do that for all the swaps.

there's also the early model GSX-R 4.5", and I believe the bandit 4" and 4.5" rims as well. these other three options require a decent amount of modification of the bearings & whatnot. There are instructions out there though.

I wouldnt recommend getting a tire any wider than a 150. Turd just barely fit in a 160, but Alpha found out the hard way that not all brands in a 160 size will fit. It's better not to be guessing each time you buy new rubber.

good luck & again dont get discouraged. unfortunatly the a$$holes are always the loudest, even on here.

What the hell was I supposed to read there?  Simply put, it's not about people doing stunts...no one gives a damn if he does stunts.  It's about someone doing stunts impropperly, due to a lack of experience and gained skill, and blaming the bike for their own shortcomings.

If you can't hold the bike steady during a wheelie...or any other stunt...it's because you don't know what you're doing yet.  It is not because your tires are too skinny.

haha thanks everyone! except for ahem....haha.
and i was just told it's easier to keep a slow wheelie steady with a wider tire...cause i'm fine doing faster wheelies, it just gets off when i do really slow wheelies. maybe i'll try to post some more videos so you can see what i mean. anyone know if a bandit rim will fit a gs? thanks.

B4 rims fit with mild modification...B6 and B12 wheels aren't worth the hassle.  Better to swap in an entire new rear end.

Whoever told you slow wheelies are easier to hold on wider tires is misleading you.  Watch this:

thats pish. it was stupidly easy to do the b6 rear wheel, it took a evening.  i finished work did the mod. and had every thing back together before bed.
ready for work the next morning. no special tools except for a grinder, a tape measure, and a pencil.
the only bit was the torque arm, i didn't have that back for a day or so, but i just moved the gs one over to one side untill it was complete.
easy stuff.

yeah...running a wider, heavier wheel only to slap a skinny tire on it simply isn't my idea of "worth the hassle".

Yeah and a harley weighs 700lbs but can do it (see video)(that's a 130 on the back of that bike).  The ride isn't the issue, it's the rider.

I didnt watch the video, I x-ed out when it had BMX in the title.  505 is pretty good with wheelies and slow wheelies are the hardest because it is all balance like you said, but what does it hurt to want to make it easier?  Its like shooting a gun with a tripod or not.  Sure some people can shoot well without and better than some that have a tripod but its way easier to shoot with one on the gun.  Nothing wrong either way.

I did...one of the first things I noticed...along with the beefier forks, hiked up ground clearance, and standard posture.  I'd rock a Street-Rod.

Well arent they running the 19 or 21 inch front rims?  If they are they probably run the smaller rear to match the front.  Or maybe its cause the rears are rediculously wide.  Probably just a mathing issue, like putting a high performance tire on the rear of a gs and a kenda or chengshin (sp?) on the front, horrible handling cause it will push real bad, but if you run both cheap tires front and rear it will have better handling with the tires reacting near the same.

In his case with wheelies it isnt really compramising his bike.  Because he uses the front or rear mostly independently.  If he were doing track days, he would probably be better off stock, just because its for looks in that case, but with wheelies it will help.
