So I'm hagning out on Saturday with my 19 year old Bro-in-law who has been having some girl problems, school problems and such as of late. Needless to say he's having a hard time of it all round. Enter my father-in-law who comes over to the house (we live three doors away) and makes us the following offer. He said that if we help him clean out the two stalls of his garage/worskshop that we could setup our own bike workshop. He's even going to put a floor down so it won't get as cold in the wintertime. He's got every tool known to man and some that may have been forged by elves. We'll have a couple different types of welders, drill presses, lathes, etc at our disposal. Needless to say I pretty much ran down the street and started cleaning out the garages. We already have a couple of bikes for this winter. In addition to the GS, I have my 1967 YCS 180 yamaha that needs some new gaskets and a good tank and carb clean. I also have a 1971 SuzukiT500 that is pretty much all complete and has good compression that is begging to be made into a cafe racer. My bro-in-law is into dirt bikes and has a TTR 225 and is hoping to get a YZ this winter.
So in summary... My father-in-law is the coolest.

/me helps clean!
I have it just a little better.
The mechanic at the shop I work at has worked on motorcycles since before I was born.
He's rebuilding my engine this winter....
FOR FREE!
All I have to do is buy parts... At cost.
HAWT!
I sit around thinking about how I wish someone would offer me something like that...
(then I remember I have a garage and elven tools already)
The big thing for me is space space and more space.
I have an attached garage on my little ranch house, but it's filled with kids toys and pool stuff from the summer. I always had to rearrange shaZam! just so i could get the bike in to work on it. Now I'm gonna have 8 foot ceilings and about 25 feet to spread out across. Not to mention the fact that I won't have to run up and down the street to get tools when I need them.

Awesome! All you need now is a stereo, mini-fridge and a ratty-ass couch! Sounds like it'll be a fun winter!
I can't WAIT to get a garage again. I forgot how crappy it was to not have one.

All my best memories involve ratty ass couches.

already have the mini fridge and stereo.... Oh and Ujust remembered. We have an old loveseat in storage down at my in-laws new house that we didnt' have space for. Damn I 'm set.
conjure up a shitter and you'll never have to leave!!
there's a steep hillside that drops off into a quarry right down there. Maybe i'll just nail a toliet seat on the end of 2X12 and hang off over the edge.
dude not only would that be cheap and practical, I'd give you a quarter to use it.
You should turn it into the hang out spot for all the cool kids, and have jet ski races in the borrow pit behind the garage, like Ludacris in 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Pics on the T500?
oh I'll have to throw some up of the before stages. It's all complete minus the usual box of parts, but I 'll do pics in stages as I work on it this winter.
