Well... today the Suzuki shop I usually go to was closed, so I just went down to the local independant shop, and asked for a filter for the two GS'es that I was working on today.
Well, they didn't have the Suzuki Genuine Parts that I usually use, and that I usually prefer.... and I reluctantly took the HiFlo that they had on hand.
Well, my opinion has now changed. The HiFlo Filtro is of MUCH better quailty and construction from what I can tell at this point. And for the same price, you get a new gasket. I think I've changed my preference for good.
Is "HIFLO" the brandname?
Yeah, the suzuki shop charged me $4 just for a new o-ring....and then I lost it! Damn it :mad: So HIFLO is a brand and they come with an O-ring? Cool Anyone know about Fram, Wix, K&N? I know they all make filters for the bike and they're all probally as good or better than the suzuki ones, and cheape, mostly because you can order them through auto parts stores. Emgo makes filters too, they're cheap but don't include an O-ring.

Autozone carries the STP filter for the GS. I'm sure its made by the same manufacturer as some of the filters listed above. It comes with an o-ring.
It may not be the best quality filter, but I change it often and I presume this engine will last 100k using these filters. I've read all of the reports about filter quality and such. With my GS...I change the oil/filter often and forget all of the "filter science" crap.

STP filters I bought from Autozone a couple years ago were identical to the Fram filters at that time. They had their own part numbers on the boxes but the filters were stamped with the same mfg number inside.
I buy the Fram filters and they come with the o-ring already in the box (btw, ducatinolan, if you still need a filter o-ring, let me know. I bought a bunch before realizing the Frams come with some already).

Yes, HiFloFiltro is the brand, and when I got mine I got TWO gaskets with it, which is even cooler.
Some Fram filters appear to be of substandard quality ...

The Purolator PureOne cost me $6 and came with an o-ring. (And it only took 6 freaking months to arrive through Amazon...fortunately I have ready access to OEM filters locally at Chaparral.)
