I just bought the forks, tripples, calipers, and axle off of a 954 and I pick it up tomorrow! I found a good deal so I hope it'll work. I think I'll be able to use either my old steering stem with some bushings to fit the tripples, or use the new stem with some special bearings. I'm looking for a wheel with rotors from a 954 or a 929 or anything else that'll work.
The fork dosn't include the clip ons, so I'll be keeping my eye out for those as well, or I may figure out a way to mount the bars.
If anyone knows what other wheels will fit please let me know.
Thanks
oooh I'm really interested to see how this turns out :thumb:
you should be able to find a 954/929 front wheel easy; those bikes are friggin everywhere!
I dont know if you've seen this yet, but it'll probably be helpful: http://www.gs500e.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1274
good luck
Someone on here posted a front end swap too, I'll look for it
take good photos and do a write up!
Who did that front end swap? Someone did a dual disk front end swap on his GS a few weeks ago and I can't find it. He did a nice write up with photos and everything. I searched, but no dice. If someone else finds it please post a link.
Thanks

What size forks are they? I've got a sleugh of clip-ons laying about...
Okay, I guess I got a little excited too early. I talked to the guy again and he left a 0 off of the end of his price  $500 insted of $50. I was hoping that he was just stupid and had no idea what they were worth, he is but he thinks they're worth more not less than actual value. Oh well.
I did see an R6 front end with wheel for $200. It includes bottom tripple, fork tubes, calipers, rotors, wheel, and a bald tire. That's not too bad a deal but it isn't an inverted fork (less bling factor) and I'm too broke for that right now......some day
yeah, front end swaps ain't cheap
figure 4-600 and you might be close
keep looking here and there, i got my front end from a car performance shop that was closing down, they had it left over with a few other bike parts in the back, i got the forks, upper and lower triples, one clip on and front fender, plus a pair of pliers and a power strip, and some misc bolts and a ruined gas tank for 35 bucks.
just keep your eyes open.
^ditto...same situation, even...full TLR front end for cost of shipping...
That's what I was doing, keeping my eyes open for a good deal, and I thought I found one. I was hoping that it was an angry ex-wife of a biker guy who had no idea what it was worth. The add listing said $50 so I called, but you know how it goes. :dunno_white:
bait and switch.
wish you better luck next time, always better to check on a potential good deal and find it lacking, than to not check on a good deal and miss out.
