Title: new can
Post by: bubba zanetti on October 21, 2006, 08:04:49 PM
Yesterday I finally got around to putting the gixxer 600 can onto the GS. A flange had to be made to mount the can onto. Also there was a lunchbox filter to go on.

The old one cut off

The flange ready to have a piece of pipe welded on it to go onto the headers.

The flange on the existing headers.

The can mounted ready to locate the rear mounting point. We decided to cut off the existing mounting point & relocate it to back of the hanger.

The can removed & the new mounting point

Yeah, but now he can bolt any GSX-R600 can onto his miniature flange (which is really clean, dude!).

A can for a 4 cylinder SS bike should flow better than one for a 2 cylinder commuter bike. The can weighs about half the weight of the standard one & I got it cheap off fleabay.

The bike sounds good with it on.  :thumb:

number of cylinders and whether it's a 600cc supersport or not have absolutely nothing to do with how much gas can flow through 16 holes, 8 tubes, and 4 chambers.  The GS can is actually not very restrictive at all.

Nice welding!  Did you make the flange entirely yourself?  Impressive!  :thumb:

(You really do have a sheepskin seat cover--wow.)  O0

We made the flange ourselves. I marked it out & the father in law cut it out. I did cheat a little, I used a cad program the draw it up & printed it out on paper then used that as a template.

What I was going to say

Looks great does this mean you going to be offering Sinrath some competion in the flange buisness?

Neat job.  :thumb:
I don't consider using a cad program as cheating. If you have access to that sort of stuff, you'd be crazy not to take advantage of it.
If you make any more, I'd be interested in buying.

I'd like to take a look at that template.  Can you e-mail it or host it somewhere like rapidshare?

I'm most interested in the sound with the new can.  Did it make a significant difference?  Is it louder, different tone?

Thx

That's what I do when I need a simple thing made.

it would look 10 times better if you polished it.

I thought about polishing it, but I'm a lazy bastard at times.
