Title: Anyone Running Sport Demons Right Now
Post by: jake42 on July 06, 2003, 09:53:51 PM
Is anyone out there running Pirelli SPort demons?

Just curious.  I think that's what I'm gonna go for since the Metzler MEZ4/MEZ2 combo is no longer readily available.

It's still sort of a toss-up between those and the avon 45/46's, but i'm leaning this way.  Any info is appreciated.

ps--sorry to keep beating this poor dead tire horse, but i wanna get my bike back on the road asap.

I have them on order. From what I've read (mostly ad hype) they're made to be as close to radial performance as a bias can get. Why they don't just make them radials, I don't know.

Or why not just buy radials since you want radial performance...

and the Z4/Z2 combo is still available with free shipping from swmototires.com

I've put about 400 mi on mine.  I'm a new rider, so I don't have much to compare to, but so far, they're awesome.  When I bought the bike, it had a bald stock front and a squared off BT45 rear.  I was very cautious because of the front tire and actually locked it up several times.  Freeway riding could get squirrely too.  So when I switched to the Pirelli's (stock size), there was NO comparison - better in every way.

I'm gonna guess that the Sport Demons are comparable to BT45's for performance.  Tread pattern looks a bit more aggressive (I think Pirelli's website describes it as "fashinoable").  My crude measuring showed that when mounted, the Pirelli's were slightly narrower (just under 130mm) than the Bridestones (just over 130mm).

I considered radials, but I wanted to keep the stock size.  Snapper has the Pirelli's also - I believe in a 80 series.

You don't need to go 110/80 in the front but it shouldn't hurt. That's what came on my bike. Some people have mentioned clearance problems with the bolts for the front fender but I was OK.
