obviously it wasnt a GS500, but still a hell of a ride.

look at the video of the chase.. oh my!!!!
 I didn't wanna be caught... :icon_lol:
:dunno_white: was not me :dunno_white:
Too bad he didn't crash.
I'm glad he stopped voluntarily. Or maybe he just ran out of gas. :dunno_white:
Wow. He was actually really smooth going through all the cars, and gave most of them plenty of room when passing them.
130mph? That bike was probably just waking up.
And is 100mph really that fast? Is there some magic line between 99mph and 100mph? I don't know of any car made today that can't touch 100mph (Hummers aren't cars). Is it really that fast? I mean, you can go 100mph on some highways and if you get ticketed you simply have to pay a fine, no loss of license or jail time or anything.

100mph, is not fast, as simple as that. but here in oregon, they have this new law 100mph= $1,000 dollar ticket automatically!

Neither did I, actually. The video I got was about a busted meth ring that had been using Tickle Me Elmo dolls to transport meth--no, really.
Chilly

was on the local forum-R6. what a tool.

Did he give a reason for his idiocy? He seemed like a decent enough rider (smooth weaving through the traffic and whatnot).
funny, looking at the video without sound it looked like any other commute to work around here....
I meant the news of that chase was on the local forums, not that he was. I'm sure he's on somewhere but likely he's still in jail today.
ok did anyone else get a kick out of the line "it was very odd; he was suited up and had gloves and a helmet and then he drove 130mph"?
I dunno...I didn't see much there that impressed me other than when he stopped. That impressed me. Anyone can ride an R6 at 130mph, casually dodging slow traffic. It takes a man to know when it's time to give up.

haha yeah, i heard that. most people suit up when they ride.... But was he still only wearing jeans?
What do they think? That people suit up to ride slow?
...or maybe it's peopld don't suit up to ride fast...?

I just saw in the paper that a GSXR 1000 was doing 150mph (then the rider sayd "no, i was doing 180mph"). Anyway, they have raised the fine to $1103 (how they come up with that $3 i don't know) and automatic 30-60 day license suspension. That's a bit harsh for a measly 100mph.

It is when the boys in blue are behind you with their lights on.

You can do 100mph in a 30 and potentially keep your license (potentially). Hell, some people hit 100 before they leave their driveway. But 100 on the highway is a big no no.
What is the mentality that makes people think 100mph is wicked fast?
We have 80mph highways here in Texas, and if you get caught doing 100 on these highways its simply a 20mph over the limit ticket. Most people travel at 80 or more on the non-80mph highways here.
Wow... He totally lost the cops and only got busted 'cause the news chopper was on his ass.
I dunno man...he wasn't stopped a minute before the cops got there.
But, only 'cause they knew where the news chopper was...
He could have totally lost them if not for that.
They just mentioned another guy on a motorcycle getting pulled over for 132mph. And somebody on the news (radio news) was talking about how this $1103 ticket for 100mph isn't slowing people down and that many people still do 100mph and how it's very dangerous for people to be going these extremely high speeds. I would consider extremely high speed around 200+. Most the stuff below that is just very fast!
There's obviously some relativity here, 100 is not so fast when youre surrounded by cars going 85, but its extremely fast on city streets in a high speed pursuit. Thats a menace to society, and it endangers innocent people. Face it, if you go down at 100 on city streets, your chances of survival are not great.
++ to what Stephen said.
Think about the difference in speed... If everyone around you is going 80 and you're doing 100, it's like going 20 MPH in a parking lot what cars that can jump out of nowhere...
On a surface street where people are more likely to be going 30 or 40, 100 MPH is f%$king INSANE! It's like blazing through that same parking lot at 60-70 MPH. You gotta be out of your head to do that.
Now, 100 isn't THAT fast on an empty highway... But, when you think about a 2 second minimum reaction time and a realistic braking distance, 100 MPH is still plenty fast.
130 on a public street is just retarded. :dunno_white:
Seeing 130mph on occasion I can tell you that it's not that fast. I don't consider anything very fast until after about 145mph (the point at which tunnel vision really starts to do it's thing). You just have to have your perceptions tuned to the enviroment.
If the subject in question is an idiot, then anything can be too fast.
People die everyday regardless of speed.
130 on a track is fine.
130 on any public road with other vehicles around... RETARDED.
I don't seem to have a problem on this road...
Dude... I know you're all "Super Cool" and whatnot... But, Srsly... 130 on a public road is RETARDED.
You have no idea what could be in the road... You have no idea what could happen to you... And NO ONE is out there waiting for you to crash.
You know it's retarded... You don't even have to admit that it's retarded... Just move along.
actually with no intersections and 2 miles of visibillity it's hard to not see something coming at you. Of course no one's looking out for you...but out here you can go down at 70 and no one would be there. Speed is moot in certain circumstances.
Brick Wall, meet your twin MAK.
DUDE!
AUGH!
Anyway... You know it's retarded and so does everyone else... So....
................................................................................................................................................................................................................
.........................
?
everyone knows? Well I don't...so educate me.
You said its dumb because you can't see what's happening. I just told you visibillity is literally miles. No intersections. So how's this point valid?
Now, let toss a blow-out into the mix.
You go down at 130mph and slide into a barbed wire fence. Devestating results and no one's out there to help you. If you slide into that fence at 70mph, though, the results are no less devestating...and there's still no one there to help you? So hows that valid?
Excessive speed in the vacinity of traffic, and outriding your perception, is retarded. Neither one of those is dependant on any specific speed. They both vary tremendously by enviroment...sometimes 20mph is excessive.
................................................................................................................................................................................................................
oh you're a real pimp now
http://www.yourethemannowdog.com
I have to agree with Mak on this one. I know the roads that he's talking about well. North Texas is full of them--flat as a pancake and stretching for miles in a straight line. Plus, Texas dumps a ton of money into road maintenance, so they're often flaw-free. It was a great place to learn how to drive--fast.
Chilly
bahahahahahhahahahahhahaha That was my favorite part of that movie...and the bimmer stuff, obviously.
If you guys think people should drive/ride that fast on public roadways, then I think you're retarded for thinking that.
This topic can't really be argued... It just boils down to:
"I think Yes."
"I think No."
"You're Wrong!"
"No, you're Wrong!"
"No, you're Wrong!"
"Here's my evidence!"
"Well, here's my evidence!"
"No, you're Wrong!"
"No, you're Wrong!"
So... That's about that.
You're the man now dog!
I am the sempai and you are the kohai. You may have been the hero in Passenger 57, but not in MY movie!
the right answer to that arguement is dependent on the level of risk of the POV. If you are the person that isnt interested or feels 130 is too fast, then thats your POV-that its unsafe. If you have a high tolerance for excessive speed, as I do, then my POV is that the speed itself isnt unsafe or too fast. I may have ridden in excess of 130 (actual) on outlying roads such as the ones MAK speaks of, at one or more times...that would be an indicated 150mph, allegedly. Do I think its safe. not really, not under any circumstance. I've been told its fun. Having done it at the track, really, I imagine it would be.
I'm rambling, just thinking about the track....
not to mention "illegal" (on a public street/road/highway)
What's with the news lady, she was acting so weird about the fact he was wearing safety gear. What, most of you all on the west coast only wear gear when you plan on speeding and are trying to evade the Police?
Oh and if your ever trying to lose the Cops you should get to the nearest airport, that way the air units have a much harder time trying to follow you, especially a news helicopter. Wait, did I just say that. Never-mind!
You'd also want a really strong headwind at altitude. Helicopters are slow as far as aircraft are concerned. The record speed is 249.10 mph (400.80 km/h) (http://www.aerospaceweb.org/design/helicopter/velocity.shtml) and that was a special occasion where the cargo consisted of the pilot and his kneeboard and not much else. Around here most police and news helicopters I've seen are A Stars (or Ecureuils for the Europeans) and their top speed is 178.3 mph (287 km/h) Significanlty less I'm assuming with a full load of fuel and a searchlight and a couple of cops on board all flying fairly low over the roads. So a good headwind at altitude will pretty much guarantee you can outrun the helicopter on a supersport bike.
Of course if you're really thinking ahead you'd want a small shed somewhere near a pedestrian-traffic heavy area where you can ride your bike into the shed, dump your helmet and other gear, and then blend in with a crowd.
Just a thought. The real problem is outrunning the radios.
