So I have to assume that at least some people here are regular Woot fans. But for those who are not, let me share :) Sorry this is long .. people have been asking me why I was excited all day.
Woot is a website that sells one thing a day ... until they sell out of that item. You can order up to 3 and shipping is always $5. So $1589.99 JVC 61in D-ILA HD TVs (like today) and $0.01 Heated Windshield Washer kits alike are both $5 for shipping.
Awesome "mystery" speakers (actually Dell 5.1) usually sell out within 10 minutes and then are gone for the day. There are 2 special things that Woot does as well. First is WootOffs. That's when they sell one thing at a time till it's gone. 5 minutes later they start another sale. There tend to be things that go really fast and WootOff killers that may or maynot stall the whole ordeal (I call it an ordeal because people stay up for 24+ hours s as not to miss anything).
Then there's the Bag of Crap (aka Random Crap / Bandolier of Carrots / any B of C you can think of). This is basically a way for the Woot staff to clear their warehouse. You pay $1 per Crap and you always get one bag. So a typical order is $8 for 3 craps and Shipping.
The worst BoC days are when it's in a WootOff. Higher volume on the site means it's gonna go down. A few weeks ago, they sold 4500 BoCs in 0.309seconds. Yes .... 4500 orders in less than half a second. To put that in perspective, it took the first orderer 0.950 seconds to place his order. Needless to say it's insane and the servers were down for about 15 minutes.
I got in ... and now I want to brag before this gets tarded for the title. Although, two people actually got hand written notes that said their items were too large for the box. Speculation is that one is getting a 61in TV from today (like last time) and the other is getting this (http://ken-jennings.com/blog/?p=22) which was bought by Woot on eBay awhile back. Yes - they too paid $8 shipped.
It finally came today.
I get the (rather heavy) box and am disturbed to see a Salad box that says "Keep Refrigerated". Hmm .. what could be inside? Is Woot sending me their leftover Spinach?

I open to find the decent:
1 Samsonite bag
2 thumb drives
3 pack of Hanes Women's Hi-Cut panties. As my wife said, "they'll fit but I don't know how they'll look."
(http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/9983/img3617yt4.th.jpg) (http://img346.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img3617yt4.jpg)
1 odd basketball "gun" / whistle that makes one of the most annoying sounds I've ever heard. Here are action shots ..
Before I pull the trigger .. (http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/7496/img3615ag3.th.jpg) (http://img346.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img3615ag3.jpg) and after ..(http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/5359/img3616qm6.th.jpg) (http://img346.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img3616qm6.jpg)
And finally .. the creme de la creme ... the JBL On Stage II with Remote. All new in box with every adapter/remote/power cord needed. If my didn't leave our mp3 players (Karma and Nano) at work, I could verify it was in working order.
(http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/2977/img3618vj3.th.jpg) (http://img346.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img3618vj3.jpg)(http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/4854/img3620gb0.th.jpg) (http://img346.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img3620gb0.jpg)

Dude. That's awesome. I want one of those JBLs.. they sound awesome.
I'm gonna hafta check this site out....as if I need more crap...but...hey...it's cheap crap! :icon_mrgreen:
I just signed up for that site...
I was looking at the FAQ...
QuoteNo, we do not ship outside of the continental United States at this time. We do not ship to APO/FPO addresses, Canada, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, nor to Maggie's Nipples, Wyoming or Assinippi, Massachusetts at this time.
That sucks. I think I live in MA...

You uhhh live in Assinippi? Sorry Anna that sucks.
btw - I thought both places were jokes ... apparently not ... but the fact that they dont ship there may be a joke. They tend to make fun of silly things.
I just re-read my post... It is a joke. I didn't realize that there is an Assinipi, MA. I thought they were refering to Mississippi.
Somebody give me a link to this website.

Woot is ok.. but a few years ago I was in danger of needing intervention to get me out of slickdeals.net. Really insidiously addictive. Mostly computer and electronics stuff, but everything passes through sooner or later. Once you've scanned the "headlines", the real action is in Forums> Hot Deals>
The great part is that as soon as a deal is posted, there is a lot of commentary- how good the product is, how good the merchant is. You can save a lot of money by just reading the advice about what NOT to buy, and who not to buy from.
I don't hang out there much anymore, but still hit it a couple of times a week. Some of the deals are too good to be true, and some (price mistakes from companies that will honor the orders placed before they correct them) are gone in an hour or two.
Some folks like fatwallet.com, and competing site. Never got into it, not sure why.
I guess you wouldn't be interested in the SD Widget then. Yahoo runs the widgets now (used to be Konfabulator). Little app on your desktop that refreshes every minute or so and tells you the top 15 deals OR top 15 Forum topics .... very helpful/expensive haha.
Funny to watch about half the Woot posts pop up on there midday .. once they've been on woot for 12 hours or so.

Seriously Anna .. might want to have someone take a look at that.
Today's Woot: InFocus IN72 entertainment projector with screen: $950
This site doesn't give you decent deals... This thing retails at $999, but when you can find a good sale, you'd get about 100~200 off.
Yeah but after you Buy it you get a Rebate for $300 Off. ;)
