Okay,
Is the exhaust pipe drilling procedure performed with the pipe still mounted on the bike or does it need to be removed?
I'm just wondering if there's the possibility of getting pieces of metal floating around in the can. Is there an issue with this? Or is it no big deal?

No big deal, and probably would happen on or off the bike. They'll blow out anyway.
what does thst do?
Opens the flow and sound. Denman please pipe in for specifics.
I did it while the pipe was on the bike. Put the bike on the sidestand, and make sure it's IN GEAR so that it won't roll. Helpful if you can have someone hold/stabilize the bike while you drill. The drilling may require a little pressure, depending on your drill. Use a small drill bit, and work your way up to the size required for the mod; this is exactly how I did the mod, with great results.
cool mod! i think i'm going to do this to my bike. what kinds of things do i need to be careful of? sounds pretty easy but someone mentioned if the pipe gets messed up then it's over...i definately can't afford that.
The only thing you might "mess up" is that you make it too loud for your own liking. That's why you want to start drilling small holes first, and if it's not loud enough drill larger holes until you have it just right.
Do you do this drilling with the bike running to keep the metal bits out or how?
Don't worry about the metal bits, they aren't going anywhere that matters. They'll blow out the first time you run the bike. Do not do it with the bike running!
There is very little you could possibly do wrong that would damage anything. Don't drill through the side I guess.
Man, you guys worry a lot!
If you are going to take the time to drill a bunch of holes in the can you might as well hack off the end cap and rip out the inner baffle and weld the cap back on. That would be much more effective.
ouuu I just thought of something!
Hammer the cap back on inside out so that the exhaust tip points in. The can will act sort of like a megaphone exhuast and the tip becomes something like an inner stinger.
hmmm... might try this on 'Lita's bike when I steal the Yosh race exhaust off her bike.
hehehehe
I second the "start with small holes & work your way up" comment!!
I saw this mod & thought, "What a great idea" so I went & attacked my exhaust with the ol' Dewalt & a handful of drills. Holy ringing ears, Batman! It ended up way louder than I expected. Also, rather than drill three smaller holes in the center, like Pablo's website shows, I just made myself an extension for a 3/4 inch drill & ran it right up the middle. The actual procedure was pretty easy & low risk, but it's kinda hard to reverse if it ends up too loud for ya...
Aim the exhaust away from your friends when you first start it up...
