Title: Head gasket
Post by: kylewoody on October 30, 2006, 10:01:54 PM
Hey guys,

Looking at a 99' GS500 that has a leaky head gasket.  I know they're probably reading this too, but just wondering about other info, maybe someone knows about price and whatnot.

Shouldn't be a big deal, no?  It could ride for a hundred miles if not too bad and not give me rod knock or nothing hopefully.

Looks like a real simple task to replace (rebuilt car 4 cycles before and 2 cycles).

Thanks,
Kyle

It's not a difficult job.  The hardest part is getting the head off the cylinders w/out disturbing the gasket between them and the block.  Pulling up on the head tends to bring the cylinder with it, and then you have to deal with another leaky gasket.
