The bike is a 1989 GS500E.
After having the bike repainted. I installed one of those Sigma Sport bicycle computers :thumb: The exhaust and other such things are going to be replaced. Here is the list:
Russell Front Brake 1 Line Kit #R09183 (Steel Braided)
Vance & Hines Supersport Suzuki #12029 (Full Exhaust)
K&N Stage 3 Performance Kit Suzuki #239180 (or is stage 1 OK)
EBC Kevlar Brake Pads #FA129 (Front/Back?)
EBC Kevlar Brake Pads #FA63 (Front/Back?)
JCWhitney Light Tint Windscreen 01ZX5364U
I would like to replace the old chain with a D.I.D. chain, but unsure as to exactly which one I require.
Also who supplies a 15" sprocket.
I am looking for comments or suggestions, and if anyone knows of Canadian suppliers (Free Trade <> Open Boarders :( ) it would be greatly appreciated.
To remove the question marks on the EBC brake pads, check out the SUZUKI GS500E (http://www.mawonline.com/XGS500E.HTM) page at Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse (http://www.mawonline.com/). At the top it contains a kind of "quick reference" of OEM part specs.
As you can see, the chain is of the 520 series and has 110 links. You have two main choices to make:
1) Continuous chain vs the master link variety
2) O-ring vs X-ring vs standard vs ???
My '96 came with a D.I.D. O-ring chain. My '99 came with a D.I.D. X-ring chain, which I wore out and replaced with a less expensive D.I.D. 520x110 O-ring chain with master link.
The 2 sprocket companies I have experience with are Sprocket Specialists and Sunstar. Sprocket Specialists only offers one style of front sprocket (but with varying numbers of teeth) for the entire model year range of the GS500. It will fit your '89. Sunstar offers 2 different styles - you will want the one for the 89-93 (or so) model years. Do a search on this site for "Sunstar" for more information.
