Hey that reminds me.  Maybe I should check my muffler bearings!   :icon_lol:

Definitely, be sure to use a non-flammable muffler specific grease, because those pipes can get hot.

I had my muffler bearings go out last year, and the bike just would sound right. Once I lubed them up though she sounded like a champ.

Anyone with rust on your pipes, be sure to check your muffler bearings.

Dude, I repacked my muffler bearings myself with a specially blended grease--it's like a whole new bike.  Before repacking, it rode like a GS500e--now it's more like a GS500f.  Frickin' sweet.

Oh yeah, and the chicks--they totally dig it.  It's like the grease has pheromones in it or something.

This remindes me of something funny.I have a 99e my mom has 05f. she dose not know alot about the machanics of a motorcycle. For a joke I told her she better check her fluent level b/c mine was low. It took her a few minets in the garage looking at your bikes before she relized I was joking.

One time my brothers , my dad and I were pulling the engine out of a toyota.
We had the engine hanging out of the car, just above the hole it just came out of.

My sister comes out the house as all four of us are busy manhandling this thing around, and I call to her: " quick, turn the engine over and she if it will crank...hurry!!"

we all remained quiet as she got in the car and then she got quiet......... steps out and looks at us all red faced.   We just cracked up laughing.

she's a gearhead too, so this had extra sting to it.

I like the author's philosophy on figuring this stuff out.  I tend to do the same thing.  Just take something apart.  Try to figure it out.  Likely, there's only one way to put it back together.  And it's pretty obvious when you've got it wrong.

It's the same thing with computers, or anything, really.  People are pretty scared of taking things apart.  Which is silly.  What's the worst that can happen?
