This seller is located in the same city as me. I stopped by his house this morning and looked at the bike. Like he described, the only damage is on the left cover. His asking price is $5500.
I really don't need the two helmets, but he said that he would be willing to keep the helmets if I already had one. He prefers to sell the bike with the stock pipe and tand bra.
KBB.com value is $6000. I'm gonna offer $5200.
Wish me luck.
UPDATE: 11-29-06
He called me this morning, but I didn't get his message. stupid cell phone.
He called me again just now (2:45pm) and said the title was there.

The only downfall is that we both have f'ed up work schedules... Hopefully I'll be going on a date with my new baby tomorrow. :icon_mrgreen:

Pandy is right. Way to make a guy feel wanted here... Call dibs on parts before said guy even gets another bike... that way said guy will not have said GS bike... and said GS forum will not longer apply to said guy.
That was confusing... even I had a headache from reading it.

I fixed everything that was a MUST fix. A total of $22. The rim still has the SMALL paint chip, and the exhaust still has the minor scuff marks on the tip (not the stainless part).
I haven't been contacted by the court yet (although his arraignment date is Nov 16th), so I think I'm gonna send the bastard a certified letter nicely explaining that I need the repair bill paid or I might just have to hire a lawyer and get even MORE money due to the increased cost of court and lawyer fees.

oh yeah...
I called the guy at 6:15pm before class started. I offered $5000 for everything except the two helmets.
His voice sounded VERY desperate, but he asked if he could call me in the morning. He wanted to sleep on it. His original asking price is $5500 with bike, stock pipe, tank bra, and two helmets.
My guess is that his parents REALLY didn't want to have the bike around. I met his mother this morning (he wasn't home). IMO, she was the kind of mother who would not want her kid to ride, and she would do something about it.
I'm glad my father rides and takes my mom along. Otherwise, she would NEVER let me on a bike.

skip talking to him at all. talk to the mother and offer HER $3500 for everything...you'll take the whole package out of her and her sons life for her...
that's kinda screwing them, though...I wouldn't feel right, but that's me.
On the other hand, being in the situation, I would find out if the parents or the kid OWNS the bike, and buy from the owner.

The R6 is a superb bike and they're always "cutting edge". In this day and age the way it works is:
Yamaha plops out the most technologically advance street bike ever, this year.
Honda comes along makes that tech more appropriate for track duty, next year.
Suzuki comes along makes that tech more powerful and faster, the nexx year.
Kawasaki comes along, spends three years scratching it's head, then makes it look more badass, or completely hideous, depending entirely upon propper alignment of the planets and stars, and replaces 2nd gear with rubber bands.

Oh, I meant the '01 ZX10. Sorry. It is pretty much considered the baddest mo fo on the block so far.

I agree with what Pablo said about it being exactly like the first time you rode his GS. Except now you know how to ride a motorcycle and you'll find yourself testing the limits of the bike right away. See what she is made of.
Like this, "I'll get into the power band a little. . .Ooooo yeah. I like that baby. Oooo yeah, the brakes. Squeeze it for me baby. . . yeahhh. . . oooo second gear. . . so fast baby. . . faster. . . yeah. . . faster. . . nice shift. You like that? Your so powerful baby, yeah!"

by the way An, keep in mind that all the 600's have 'nothing' down low in the revs (not true relative the gs though) but the R6 is the worst in that regard, having ALL the power up at the very top of the rev range and very little poke down low. definitely a bike made for the track.

QuoteOh, I meant the '01 ZX10. Sorry. It is pretty much considered the baddest mo fo on the block so far.
The 2005 ZX10 was the baddest mofo that still used the same tech the others used in 2002. It was also down on power, bigger, heaver, and thousands more expensive than the 2005 GSXR 1000...the GSXR1000 having been Suzuki's refinement of the '04 YZF-R1.
I'll tell you one thing the 10R had the others beat on; Orange. None of the others do it the same.
I just called to go get the bike, but he told me that he forgot to mention that he doesn't have the title yet because of his loan.
I told him that the bike is 100% SOLD if he could get the title. He talked to him mom, and she loaned him the $3000 to pay off the loan. He's putting the check in the mail tomorrow, and as soon as he gets the title, I get my new bike.
Kinda ticks me off, but there's nothing I can do. The result is better than what happened to a fellow GS'er a couple months back.
Could be worse...I'd hand over half and go pick the bike up now. Pay the rest upon reciept of the title.
I wanted to, but I can't register and/or insure the bike without it here in MA.
So pretty much, it would be sitting taking up space in my driveway, where asshats walk by and one day be tempted to "walk" off with a brand new bike for a cheap price (free).
UPDATE:
I got a message on my cell today. The seller wanted to give me an update.
He crashed the R6.
j/k
He told me that he called the bank and they told him that they sent the title out the day they received the check. He says that was either Wed or Thurs of last week, so hopefully he will have the title in hand by the end of the week.
