I got two of them, and this sounds a bit weird but I wear one around on my necklace. That way I don't accidently put it in the washer. The sencond one is for backing up my main one.
I've known people who've put it through the washer and dryer and ended up with just a clean, working flash drive.
Water shouldn't hurt it as long as you don't try to use it wet. I don't recommmend trying it on purpose though.

So tell me, who in your company is so retarded that they don't realize that you can transfer files over that new-fangled interwebernet thinghy?
Seriously, I'd be looking for a new job. I can't stand that level of stupidity.

You might think you wouldn't work for someone like that, but that's exactly what you're doing, for about a third of every year... as am I, and every other citizen.
That reminds me, I need to go vote. Tuesday is going to be too difficult.
Maybe it'll be slightly less braindead come Wednesday morning....
You can get a 30GB HDD that's smaller than most people's wallets... :icon_razz: 1.8" drives are cool.
if your worred about losing you can go to wally-world and get you a jumpdirve case .. they have some that carry just 2 and then they have one that carrys up to 6 or so .. its just like a small little cd zip case thingy . i think the one that just holds two clips on the side of your belt loop i'm not sure i'll have to look today when i go in to work :) i work in elct. part there :P

Yep, gotta love pen drives. I have two of them and they go with me everywhere. I couldn't live without them. Both of them have also been through the wash with no ill effects.
I run a program manager called Ceedo (http://ceedo.com) on both my drives (A 2 gig Sandisk Cruzer Titanium and a 1 gig Sandisk Cuzer Micro). It only works in Windows, which is useless for me when I'm at home, but works great for me at work, where I'm forced to use WIndows. Ceedo is a great little app that ties all your portable software together in a menu and saves you from having to drill down through multiple folders when you need to run something.
The company where I work also has a policy of not allowing us to use pen drives and such at work, but they allow sales to bring them in. Hell, they even allow sales to take their boxes home with them, so we juat ignore the management and bring our drives to work anyway.
Ok...been browsing and I can't help myself. I am a network administrator for an insurance company. Let me just say that this crap sucks. I have to answer these types of questions all day. I have had to create a Group Policy in AD to not allow any types of mass storage devices to work in pc's...except for authorized individuals. I have to block internet sites that allow storing data. I have to deal with weeding out 83%+ of spam email inbound into our network. I had to put an IPS in place to insure that inbound and outbound connections are not only authorized but I had to use one that can predict bad behavior and email me so I can be the bad guy again...Did I mention that it sucks? And they wonder why I ride bikes, go to the track...whatever, I have to do something that will not make my head pop like a huge zit! Let me just say that it is not about the fact that there are tons of ways to transfer data. We have to assume the worst out of everyone to protect us from one potentially bad person. Most people are not a threat because they want to be a threat. Most people are so freakin' clueless...but they are so dangerous, because they don't think about what they are doing. "Hey let's open this email and send a virus through the entire network...why, because it had pretty pictures of puppies in it!! Why not?" Anyway, what I am trying to say is that I have to make things as difficult as possible for data to go somewhere that it is not supposed to. That includes limiting what people are allowed to do with that data. All I can say is that I really miss the old days...and if people would use the internet for what it is meant for - finding information on motorcycles and racing - then the world would be a better place!!! I know that it sucks for the other staff members...especially programmers. There are several on staff, and I hear about it every day. Don't know if this helps at all, but here ya go...

USB pen drives are made using the same techniques and technology that black boxes are made from in aircraft. They store data in the same way and the technology has been specifically designed to be as enduring as possible. A recent test was shown on the tv over here in England on a science program investigating storage devices. With a pen drive they performed many tests - first the tests were to see how physically enduring they were so they would still be functional after the incident, they were washed several times, put near high levels of heat etc and magnetism. After these tests they worked functioned fine and no data was lost. They then moved onto more irrelevant to this topic testing. This involved setting them on fire, driving over them, dropping them from great heights etc etc. After these tests the obvious physical functioning was kaput but all the data was successfully recovered by professionals from the storage drive.
So i reckon its one of the safest ways to store data. I had an old 64mb one which i washed and then decided to melt when i got a new one - just to see. Worked fine and no data lost - i had to use a male to female usb wire to connect it up to the pc though because of miss shapen plastics.

How did this thread go so wrong? :icon_confused:
I feel your pain though... I boycotted voting for several years (because of the Electoral College (but, that was before the Gore/Bush race)). Since, one vote really does nothing.
I realized that I didn't really have room to Buddha Loves You if I wasn't voting........ And in WA, we had some elections that came down to just a few votes.
