How do you rig the gaurd to fit the gs? THankz Dilly
It's supposed to bolt right on, no fuss. That's what someone who did it said.
Worse case you drill one hole to match up with gs mounting bracket.
When I bolt the front on, the rear is about an inch short from the gs mounting bracket. I dont see how I could fit it. Plus the guard hits the chain if I attach the back. It looks exactly like the sv650 guard. Damn Ebay. I get screwed every time I buy something from them. It is a good thing I can hack. I'm going to bring that site down! :guns:
theres a picture of one on my site..compare it to what you have. Or did you buy an aftermarket, alum or stainless steel one?
worse case-install in back hole and zip tie it to front one (behind heel guard anyway-thats how my hugger is held on).
Well it nearly bolts right on. Something must have got lost on my email to Pablo when I sent the pics. On the rear mounting hole put a ten mil spacer between the guard and the mounting point. A bolt would do if you dont have a spacer. You will see where the ridge slides over the front mounting point. Just drill a hole through the plastic. About 4 mill from memory then just put a nut and bolt on it. It should line up perfectly center with the chain then. The rear on the guard has a metal reinforcement on the back which you can easily bend side to side if you need to line it up a little better.
On a side note. I have just made riser plates for my GS. Wanted a cheap set of rear sets. I thought to myself god these GS rear sets are heavy. So back to SV spares box and now I have a set of SV rear sets on my GS. Must have saved a good few kilos doing it and it looks sweet too. I will post some pics once the bike is back together. Giving it a new two pack paint job at the moment.
I had a set of sv rearsets in my possesion but couldnt get them to work on the gs (before dremel). never occured to me to install a riser (aadapter) plate. Thats what you did, right?
Yeh just a plate. I will send pics soon when the bike is back together. Just made the plate from 5 mil steel. Painted it to match (wish I could have found some aluminium to polish up instead though). The brake cylinder things holes line up perfect you just need to loosen the banjo bolt to get the line to sit nice. The shift rod on the other side needs to be lengthend to match. All up about an hour to do not including any painting. I am quickly running out of SV spares now..
