Title: GS500E Gauge Cluster Modification
Post by: mjmcondor on November 09, 2006, 12:28:51 PM
Hey all:

Just wondering if anybody here has any experience putting a different speedo/tacho gauge cluster on there GS.  I have a 2000 and want to get some chrome gauges.  Here is a pic of a Bandit with the type of look I want.

Notice the chrome gauges

Also if there are any other gauges that would work and look nice.  I read a thread on here about installing an SV650 cluster.  Much appreciated.

lev or sean from the uk gs site put the chrome bandit clocks on his gs. he used the original gs clocks in the bandit surrounds and wired up the warning lights from the bandit.

ahhh I know exactly the ones you're talking about but I cant find the link... I thought I had it. :bs:

they are basically chrome to replace the black plastic on the back-side of the guages. Probably just what you're looking for. anyone else have it?

The headlight thing would be cool but it's not what I'm looking to do right now.

Sounds like I'd just need the rear gauge cover from the Bandit.  Any word on what years/models of the Bandit would work?  I'll hafta try and contact either lev or sean for some more info. They are on the UK site you say? (http://www.gs500e.co.uk/)

Anyone know the year and model of the Bandit that I'd need to get the cover from?

I am installing SV650 nakid gauges on my 97. Last night I finished modifing the speedo pick-up unit to fit the 15mm axle. SV's have a 17mm axle.
I have a Katana f/e and the gauges bolted right to bottom of the upper triple. Just had to bend the bracket apart a little bit, over size the holes and trim a plastic to clear the ignition switch.

Probably going to use SV650S gauges (since I already have them) on my next street bike. Not sure how I want to make the speedo pick-up since I will have GSXR USD forks.

I may do a write-up on this, if I get motivated enough.
