Title: mirror adjustment
Post by: UnSaniTiZ on November 10, 2006, 07:46:07 PM
So, I just replaced the mirrors on my GS, only the right one is too far bent to allow the handle bars to completely rotate to the left. On the other side, it is fine, so I know that with the proper adjustment it will work. That said, the hex bolt that I need to turn (the one that holds the stem to the base) is too tight, and I can't adjust it. I've been trying to loosen it, but I can't do that either. Anybody got some advice?

PS. the mirrors look way better than stock. The shop also told me I need to replace my fork seals... bah. Can anyone link me to a few good fork seal replacement threads if you have them in your favorites?

Thanks,

Is it a left handed thread?

not sure? I can't turn it either way, and I'm worried about boring out the screw head

Hey is there a way to rotate the brake/clutch levers around the handlebars? I need to rotate them so they'll be maybe .4" lower so they clear my new mirrors, cuz there's no way I can adjust that allen screw

Each should be attached with a bracket containing some bolts (2 on the brake side, 1 on the clutch side).  I believe the clutch one is a 10mm and the brake one is smaller 8mm perhaps.  Loosen the bolts and the levers should rotate just fine.

LOVELY. That is such a relief. I was freaking out about the wasted $50 on the mirrors. They had a different style that I liked, but for one side, so I had to get a different set. I will post some pics tomorrow if people want. They are the emgo mirrors that I've seen peope talk about a few times. ES-5 on the link below.
