Title: where can I find some aftermarket fork seals?
Post by: UnSaniTiZ on November 11, 2006, 05:18:04 PM
I need to replace my fork/dust seals, and my budget is pretty limited. Can anyone recommend somewhere I can get some decent cheap ones that will work for the GS? I'd like to replace both the oil and dust seals, as well as the oil itself. I think I'll just get the oil from a store around here though. Also, if I change to 15w oil, do I still put the same amount of oil in as with 10w?

Thanks,

Go to your local parts unlimited dealer, you should be able to pick up a pair for about $10. I would go with the Parts Unlimited brand. Stay away from the "Leak Proof"  :bs: seals though, they are more money, and they always leak.

I just went down to the dealership and got mine. I haven't had any problems.   O0

my dealership wants a lot more money than I want to spend on them. For both fork and dust seals I'd end up paying like $80 for a set of each probably.

the dust shields were fairly cheap from bikebandit.com
Check for the seals also. I KNOW that you can get the seals for at the least 30 off of ebay.

I'll probably wait until next month when I have some more money to buy this stuff. Just get em from bike bandit, and I'll got some progressive springs too. That way I can ride around a bit now with my leaking seals, wear out the stock spring and just replace it next month.

dunno... Maybe I'll cave in earlier and replace them sooner
