That's good! I live in a community that has a family who takes it upon themselves to consume a hydroelectric dam's worth of electricity in lights and lawn displays every Christmas. The worst part of it all is that for the 5 or so weeks they have the display up, what is normally a 50 minute commute off the island doubles due to traffic (gawkers).
In the town where I grew up, the local college--Midwestern State University--would host this amazingly large and garrish light display that once belonged to a little old lady before she donated it to the school. She really believed in the saying "everything's big in Texas."
Here's just one of the dozens of displays around campus: (http://wichitan.mwsu.edu/myclipart/08_dec_christmas_cheer2.jpg)

+1, I like Christmas as much as the next guy but at this rate Christmas music will be playing right after the 4th of july in 3 years. I mean stuff was out 2 weeks before halloween :o :o
At least it was just the lights and traffic. The music was on a LPFM transmitter, so they didn't have loudspeakers or anything.
