what hose is routed through a clamp (bendy wire) on the left side of the air filter box?
After some disassembly most of my hoses go down now, but there should be one that goes back over the air box. Which one is it and where does it come from?
I looked for a diagram in my clymer manual but I can't find one that shows how they should be routed. :bs:

...It's the outlet hose from the carbs, it runs from the upper cross-tube btwn the carbs and air filter box. After a lot of yanking and prying and lifting of the tank I gave up on a lazy fix from the outside and had to take the whole freaking tank off and undo the air filter box just to get that hose back to where it should be. Total time: 50 min. But now I am at peace, although I got gas all over my sleeves, face, and eye. (felt like water).
Thinking about working on my bike makes me anxious. When actually doing it, it is dirty, backbreaking, confusing, and hard. Then when I am done, I feel exhausted, somewhat accomplished, and also apprehensive about mistakes in reassembly, which could result in death, injury, or major inconvenience on the way to work.
But then later if a similar problem comes up, I feel more confident about doing what needs to be done. This is my only reward besides the saving money part. Also, the bragging rights that go along with a major fix.
Like the Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance guy, maybe there is some spiritual progress that goes with working on your bike, but really, there isn't. You just know how to work on your bike now.
Ah well. Off to play some counter-strike: source.

Really? I just routed that down with the drain hoses. I have those clamps everywhere and I have no idea what is supposed to be there. That's what happens when you have a bike with a lot of POs.

It's not really critical. It's routed between the airbox and the battery because the air is still there, as it serves as the ambient pressure pickup for the carb. If you expose the end to strong airflow I can imagine some weird carb behaviour (inexplicable surging or bogging down and the like.)

Werrrry interesting. I'm going to have to experiment with that.
