Title: I need your opinion...
Post by: seaheifer on November 16, 2006, 09:58:02 PM
I have an 05f and was looking into doing the kat shock swap....reading through all the other post many recomended the progressive fork springs.  I am thinking ok I can do both.  However my concern is that I only weigh 120.  All the other people saying the shock and springs are so much better easily have 30 pounds on me.  What do you guys suggest.  I like the idea of the kat shock raising the back end a little but other then that will it make a difference for me. Thanks

Put one some weight, boy!

I'm 205 lbs, and it was well worth it for me.

you're good to go. I'm 120 as well and I went with the progressives and a gsxr rear shock (stiffer yet than the katana). you'll be very pleased. definitely do the forks first or both, but best not to do the rear shock first since the fork springs are so damn weak...

 Thanks for correcting him an, I get called ma'am at work all the time b/c of my long hair, or when I am out to eat with my better half the server will say "what can I get you ladies" but  :icon_rolleyes:

As for put on weight.....I eat like there is no tomorrow and I work-out regularly but nothing attaches. (I was a long-distance runner all through middle and high school which probably didnt help either but...)

Thanks pablo, I think I will just do the fork springs first and then just go from there.

Well, I think I'm unique in that I have your same situation.. but I have ridden both. I weigh 135 without gear.

I ride an '02E... it has stock suspension. For awhile, I rode Dave's '05F with the kat shock and the progressives. Dave's handles a million times better in the twisties, and just feels better, all around. I recommend both swaps.

I haven't done my front fork spring swap yet, but the Kat 6 shock I added last month has made a huge difference in terms of ride comfort and handling.  Just keep watching ebay!
