Like $200, I think. Much better deal than a PS3

Wii is $250.00.  Will get one for my son later this month or next.  Nintendo actually has enough units in the states that anyone that wants one should be able to get it before christmas.

Funny thing is that it won't play dvd's.  It will play all the game cube games tho.

I didn't want to sound like too much of a jerk...but I got 2 of them....I've been playing zelda and it's awesome. I'm not much of a gamer either, the last unit I bought was a ps2 and haven't touched it for probably a year.

I havn't played a Wii yet but i am at least going to give it a shot.  I didn't know how the motion sensative part would work but from what i have been seeing it really isn't that bad.

My g/f got one Saturday for her son for Christmas. Looks pretty cool. Probably buy him a game that I would want to play.

saw one at the local gamespot the other day. Looks like a lot of fun, but i didnt' get to try it out.  I know everyone is on about how the graphics are not as high quality as the ps3, but to be honest graphics are fun to look at for about 30 seconds. If the gameplay sucks, then all the graphic bells and whistles in the world can't save it.  My favorite games for the PS2 were the grand theft auto series and none of those would be considered graphic masterpieces.

It's def. not something to compare to ps3 or xbox 360. But to me, nintendo isn't too much into graphics as they are into making fun (not super realistic) games and multiplayer games.

I've gotta say that I really don't dig the wireless controller thing.

Its technology - smaller wireless and better battery life.

You could always tie a string around your controller and glue it to your console to simulate the retro gaming experience

Thats how I thought too, untill I started playing it. It's actually pretty good, nice to see something different for a change. I believe you can always use the classic controller as well.

It's not about a "retro gaming experience" or a feeling of inferioraty or something...it's a matter of losing shaZam! and having something that's easier to break.

I don't see how it's easier to break.  If anything, it's harder to break, or at least, harder to break your console by pulling it off the shelf or whatever.  And if you're really worried about losing it, tie it to the console with a string, like mjn12 suggested.  :icon_mrgreen:

I picked up my Nintendo Wii and Zelda: TP on Sunday. Despite having slightly worse graphics than the PS3 and XBOX360, the system and control scheme are amazingly innovative and fun to use, which makes up for the lack of horsepower (for those who care)! I can't wait to try out a first person shooter like the new Metroid or Call of Duty 3. The Wii comes with a demo package called Wii Sports that has Golf, Boxing, Tennis, Baseball, Bowling... As you can imagine you swing the controller around like a tennis racket/baseball bat and what you do is replicated rather precisely on screen. I played with my Wii for 7 hours (!) in one sitting and experienced no fatigue; unlike the PS2 controller where after 30 minutes of Gran Turismo my thumbs felt like they were bleeding.

There's my sales pitch :) You all should give it a try.

Yeah maybe 2 or three dvd cases, if you've ever taken apart a computer it's about the size of a CD rom drive.
