Title: clubman bars from airtech
Post by: jon841 on December 01, 2006, 01:44:09 PM
just a quick question ive been searching arround the ssit for a while, im a new gs 500f owner and i bought the bike for high way commuting, i live in so cal  and drive about 45 mins to work everyday. heres my question... will the clubman bars from airtech fit on my 2006? i know the sv650 bars have clearance issues and i know that clip ons also have their own as well. i want a more leaned forward stance when im riding and im looking into a set of woodcraft rear sets as well as a new windscreen from zero gravity, or pugid. but i want dropped down bars and im hesitant to get clip ons cause they sound like a headache, any help or advice would be greatly apreciated.

the suburbans ROCK! the clearance issue is minor. If you look at your front brake master cylinder, on the left is where the brake lines connect. that will touch the speedo trim just barely when these bars are installed.

they completely transform the handling of the bike. I found them more comfortable as well, taking weight off my lower back.

how are they as far as long riding... they don't bend you forward too far do they?  I'm a whopping 5'7" tall so thats the only issue I'm worried about.

im 5ft 6. the first couple times I rode with them my wrists were really sore, then I realized I was resting all my weight on them. I never felt too forward, only appropriately sporty forward. long rides were always rough on me though...so I'm not a good judge. I've ridden 300-400 mile days but all of me was sore at that point so I dont think it was the bars per se...

sweet , i think im going to get the sm2's , now i just need to figure out how much time its going to take to switch over the controls, and do i need a shorter clutch cable ,throtle cable? any thing extra or does every thing just bolt on? im also in the process of purchasing a laser exhaust, jet kit, zero grav double bubble wind screen, and these bars.  next month i might splurge for the woodcraft rear sets if they fit i need to research this a bit more,
thanks for the help so far guys.

Don't buy a jet kit... buy the jets individually... way cheaper... and more information is available here..
