Title: Feel like a traitor
Post by: Alexj on December 01, 2006, 03:01:10 PM
I feel like a traitor. My GS500 has a new brother in the garage. I picked up my new 2006 GSXR750 the other day and love it.
Now I need to decide, do I keep the GS or do I sell it what a dilema. I just got it all setup and it handles like a dream. I just
got a screamin deal on The GSXR that I could not pass up.
Well I was just so excited I needed to share a picture with everyone. Here are the two bikes together.
:) Alex

Id sell it.  You have a sweet ride with the GSX why would you want to step down?  Now if one was a cruiser and one a sport bike then Id say keep'em both.

Man, that GSX looks so sweet!

Depends, do you commute? I'd commute on the GS for improved fuel economy and comfort. Keep the gixxer for weekend riding. Or sell it. Whatever makes you happy.

I had the same problem when I got my GSXR 750, but luckily NGFL made the decision for me .

Seriously I was planing on keeping the GS for commuting and the GSXR for weeking riding and the occasional commute.

If I can I'm going to keep the GS fix it up and keep riding it  :thumb:, great bike for my commutes to work.

BTW they got these $20 bar end weights that are on ebay they really do work, those with my new grips and I don't feel any vibrations at all.  For the gsxr.

Sorry Nick I couldn't resist.  :icon_mrgreen:

Haha, don't worry Dave, no offense taken... I just keep waiting to wake up in a hospital somewhere, realize this has all been a dream, and that after I wrecked your bike you strangled me until I went into a coma..

Sell the GS.  You'll end up favoring one bike over the other (guess which one!) and the GS will just sit.  Sell it!

Next year I will have to decide between my GS and my FZR600.  (Didn't get any FZR riding this year.)  With the FZR's reputation, I will probably ride the FZR when it works, and the GS when the FZR is broken down...

Love that color combo on the Gixxer, sweet ride. Ok unless you have a spouse or signifigant other who is going to learn to ride sell the GS. You ain't gonna ride it once you get used to the gixxer, after buying the 954 my GS sat from september to november until my wife got her Motorcycle license. The times I pulled it out and ran it around the block I couldn't believe how much I had adapted to a full superbike position,(my bike has the vortex clipons that are even lower and further downsloped than factory clipons).

Wow that bike looks nice!!!

I would sell the gs. It's looks in good condition so you should get good money for it.

Very nice bike man!

I would sell the GS while it's still 2006.

when I bumped up to a YZF-R6 I kept my GS thinking I would use it for a bad weather ride or commuter.  Within 3 months I realized it was a $1700 paperweight.

Sell it.

When I had four roadworthy bikes (Vision, SRX250, FZR400, Triumph T140), I rode each one a day, but after the FZR was broken in it became a racebike, and the Triumph ran better on old gas, so I just switched between the Vision and the SRX during the week.  If you can faithfully switch between bikes on a daily basis, there's no reason to not keep both.  Insurance would be less if you sold one, but you may want a back-up bike.

Hard decision, if the GS was a few years old it would be a no brainer.
The GSXR 750 is on my short list of future bikes.

How did you get that to work? If you decide to sell it I might like to buy them  :thumb:

I'll tell you like my wife tells me ( :nono:) when I start looking at Craigslist... "One person with two bikes is a collector."  I think it goes doubly so when one of the bikes is going to be so much more advanced (performance wise).  You got to ask yourself, "In what honest situation would I choose to ride the 500?"  "When would I walk by that GORGOEOUS gsxr for my faithful gs?"  Remember, being honest with others begins with being honest with yourself.  I, personally, would keep them both.  But I'm a collector.  :icon_twisted:
