Title: Bought a GSXR shock..
Post by: JasonB on July 10, 2003, 05:08:28 PM
Got it off ebay tho I didnt get home to bid on it but it seems no one else did either. Bought it for $35 shipped to my door. I am getting the Pod Filters and couldnt wait on finding an older one and was told this would fit with the filters. Any tips or tricks on getting this on?

Here it is if anyone wants to look.

Damn dude!  You scored.  That is the cheapest I have seen. Yeah, you'll need the pod filters.  There is no way to mount it with the air box.  You'll also need to re-jet the carbs with the pod filters on there.  You might as well get a new exhaust while your at it.  Get some new tires, springs, stainless brake lines, GSXR rear wheel.  Look at what you've started.  :thumb:

You have to make the dog bones longer if I am not mistaken.  I have seen it done, someone on the board has one installed.

Yep thought I would jump on it dunno if the new ones are better or worse than the old ones never saw that conversation come up.

Got my jets and pilots and washers ready for when the filters come in.

I dont wanna spend the extra cash on exhaust since I dont need it and I dont mind a quiet bike.

Getting new tires and a GSXR wheel this weekend, already have the progressive springs in the front. I havent seen the brake lines anywhere, but isnt there a brake upgrade for the GS?

Yeah, it's called a GSXR front triple and forks. :nana:   Just kidding, stainless brake lines are available, and a good set of pads should be more than ample for the acceleration and speed of a bike like the GS.  I still have the stock brake setup with all the above mentioned mods.  I ride extremely hard on occation and the stock setup has never faded.  On the track you might need more but on the street I think they are enough.

Did you get the reservoir with it?  (Does it even need one?)
