Title: Vehicle & motorcycle price variance by US city/region
Post by: indywar360 on December 03, 2006, 11:11:13 PM
I'm moving to California soon and was wondering about the price variances for the same vehicles in different regions.

For example: Here in Portland I bought my 2004 F model off craigslist in 2005 with 4300 miles on it for $2700. That is damn cheap, about half retail price.  I got this deal perhaps partly because of the poor riding weather here. Buyer's market.

On the other hand, when I look up Toyota MR2's or Nissan 300zx's up here, they are like $8k-$9k for early 90s models in good condition, and on the LA craigslist they seem to run $5k-$6k.

It seems like demand for bikes in SoCal would be higher, and thus prices higher down there.

And it does seem like quality used cars should be cheaper there, but I've also heard the opposite, that dealers there have ridiculous markups.

Anyone know?  :dunno_white:
