Title: 05 clutch on older GS?
Post by: tpgpz on December 04, 2006, 07:02:58 AM
Question for the Gods or anyone that has tried...

Will an 05 clutch fit an older GS?  I have an 89 GS.  Clutch is slipping when cold.  Found a really good deal on an entire basket with fiber and steel plates from an 05.  Just trying to figure out what will work and what won't.

Any input is appreciated... :thumb:

According to the Ron Ayers microfiche (going up only to 2004) the fiber clutch plates are still the same. The steel plates have changed part numbers twice, but each number is said to supersede the previous, so they presumably are interchangeable.

All years of the GS5 (89-current) use the same clutch.
The GS also shares the same clutch plates as the 99-02 SV650 but the GS has 1 more plate.
