This might be a stupid question, but how low does the gas in the tank need to go before it's too low for even the reserve to get to? I know that the ON is suppose to get to about 3 gallons and RES supposed to get about 1 gallon, but does that really happen? It seems that when the level of my gas gets to be too low for the reserve, I can still see a good amount of gas in the tank. :dunno_white: Or maybe something's wrong with the inlet/outlet for my reserve on the tank?
If I remember the manual correctly, reserve is 1.1 GAL, and the tank is 5.3 GAL.
But in real life, it changes a lot.
There is still a decent amount of gas in the tank when the level is too low for the res tube to draw. It's just due to the shape of the tank (crap pockets) and the design of the petcock.
I was taught that reserve holds enough gas to get to the next gas station and thats all I need to know.

on what year? I've been empty, couldn't see anymore in the tank atleast, before and was only able to 3.5 gallons in it...
DOH!!!
I think the older GS's (I think pre '01) have slightly smaller tanks.
I've got an '04
yeah... my 05 is DEFINATELY a 5g + tank. I've hit about 4.9-5 gallons once after riding the reserve for probably longer than i should have. Only time it's ever cost me more than ten bucks to fill.
