Next weekend, I'm putting a big suzuki logo vinyl decal on my E52 topcase, and painting it to match the bike on the top with a gloss black bottom. The Suzuki letters are ghosted on the tank, you cant really see it in the pic. I haven't buffed it yet. That's 4 coats primer, 8 coats Mirage Ice, and 8 coats of clear coat on the tank, and 4-6-5 respectively on the plastics. The top case will get the tank treatment. I plan to gloss black the frame later, as well as clean off the wheels (which appear to be gunmetal, and I like em ). The pipes are high heat chrome paint, by the way, not white...
New chameleon paint job for about $100 bucks after it's all done.
nice job on the exhaust :thumb:
So did you just rattle can everything you said you painted?
Yup
nice work.
definetly keep us updated on how well the chrome paint on the exhaust lasts. have you ran the bike after painting yet?

Should run about 20-25% faster now.
Looks like Gaza Strip area in the background... post rocket attack
I ran it about 10 miles. It burned something off the pipe, but the paint is still there. I'm happy with it. My goal was simply to make it look a little nicer.
Looks pretty good. Did you take the tank off or just mask around it when you painted?
Very purdy!! :thumb:
Is it just me ... or does the thing look uglier now than before. Like waaaay uglier, OK its not stock looking. OK mission accomplished ... but ...
Yea the pipe - nice out of the box thinking there. That looks good. I have used ashy looking black, some sorta very very very very flat black. I like it.
Cool.

Well pic's never do chameleon type paints justice, but I myself would of done the front fender too. I think it would give more balance to that color scheme on the bike , especially if the frame is going to go black. But......
What do I know, I think " F " models look nice!

???
Obviously you haven't looked at how its done.. Pop the seat off, remove rear plastic (two bolts two screws), remove tank (2 bolts)
Getting the tank off is way easier than masking it off :thumb:

+1 :thumb:
I like it
I took the tank and plastics off to paint, and honestly, I just forgot the front fender. It's not done yet, I want to paint a buch more. So it's not up to Seshadri's standards, but I love it. Painting is easy and I love the effect.
OK chameleon paint ... now its not poor a quality issue, its a poor taste issue - OK I get it ... :thumb: ... great paint job, lousy choice of paint.
Anyway Just kidding. :icon_twisted: ...
Cool.

I'm with ya Srinath, I'm not a fan of chameleon paint... in pictures or in person. But it does look like good execution. It will be interesting to see how the chrome paint holds up to the heat
I take no offense at your distaste for my choice of paint. I'm having fun painting it, and I enjoy the results. My neighbor gave me some Suzuki decals for my bike and topcase (No cheesy R's or anything). I'll post more pics when I finish the whole paint job.
