Me and AJ will both be in the Albany area in the spring :thumb:
 geezum did I kill this thread already by mentioning me and AJ??! We're NICE in person I swear!!! By the way the weather has been...maybe we'll get some January rides in like last year :thumb: That is..if I get my bike back together by then.
SOrry Pastrami...
I really don't wanna ride with you.  j/k
I'm up for it as long as I can get a better job that gives me time for a life...
..
I'm up for it. Where abouts were you thinking??
Well no matter what...I'm thinking June 30-July1st I'm heading down to the Binghamton area...it just feels like I should...plus thats the start of my two week vacation from work (I hope..I may get stuck running the office) Hopefully there will be good weather this time!
yea that's the time frame I was thinking about too.
ok perfect!
...so you guys are riding out to MA to meet me, right????
I think you should come out east, meet An, make him come further east with you, stay with me and AJ then we can ALL go down to Binghamton...j/k..that'd be like a week long  but yeah we should definitely set up some western NY/MA/CT/VT/NH thing as opposed to the southern NY/PA region rides.....
hi all, if you do a western ny ride im in. i live near buffalo by letchworth state park.
heyyyy its NE Rides time! of course u all know im in the south east section of PA so we should stage the rides around me. cause im the greatest. and my bike is about to break down again jsut before riding season gets underway.. so ya.
Ok, I finally graduate from college May in the middle of May. I will be a REAL teacher, then the riding is on. I am game for anything after that. Right now I am student teaching and have no life or motorcycle to speak of. Oh, by the way, I am keeping it.

Whats this now, post #3 or so? I make a good lurker..
Someone say NE people? Is south Jersey NE enough for you guys? I'd be perfectly willing to ride up and meet some of you fine folks if you don't mind noobs hanging around the back of the pack. ;) I've got plenty of vacation to use, just need a couple weeks notice minimum. Anyway I'll be keeping a better eye on this thread/section, I love the forum and can't wait to get back out on the road!
Anthony...that makes me ecstatic :thumb:

I'm around Cherry Hill, not far south, close to Philly. I have some vacationing planned for early-mid June, it'd be great to get some riding in then.
HOW about July 8th weekend we do another camp kind-a thing near Lancaster/Reading?

I would love this personally, hell I had planned on something along these lines anyway. If there's anything I can do to help please let me know.
bring hot dogs! yess lancaster/reading is a good idear. its nice out there too. we could get some good ole amish country riding in!
Cool- Was looking on the map and Philly is just to "city" like for a group ride, traffic control and our group getting cut in half....And it's alot harder to make a u-turn as a group when you get lost<<that's all I'm going to say about that :icon_razz:>>
but.....yea ride by the HD factory in lancaster :flipoff:
Seriously lets get this thing rolling out.---I'm going with hotel/motel tho over a tent again....I hate luggage except for my rain gear
but the "natural" elements were so fun and the camp fire..............and the 32pack (good times) RIP
MY UPDATES:
JULY 7 & 8 this trip is for me (either way me and gf are going) riding for the weekend.
I was thinking on Saturday go to hershey park then a group ride on Sunday and people can break off to go home their separate ways.
rt. 30 over to York then down rt. 15 is great "amish" country then cut down on 116 to 216 through Hanover to rt. 74 the 372 then 272 N back into lancaster.....that should be about 100miles.....I strongly vote to take a side trip after Gettysburg and go down on rt. 77/64 through Emmitsburg and out through twisty windy Coctin Mt. State Park then jump back on rt. 15 @ Gettsyburg and continue on :)
FYI there is a Holiday Inn, country Inn, Hilton, Travel Inn, Americas Best Value, and a Hampton Inn in Lancaster on rt. 30 according to yellow book....
LMK we could get a group discount on Hershey park tickets if we have 15 definite going......
just some number crunching
Atlantic city (NJ) to Lancaster 150miles
Hagerstown (MD) to Lancaster 120miles
Baltimore (MD) to Lancaster 75miles
Williamsport (PA) to Lancaster 130miles
Rochester (NY) to Lancaster 300miles
I think it's feesiable 8)
This is sounding good. I'm keeping an eye on this thread...
YES another Marylander ;)---now I won't be represent'n the state all alone 8)
Oh snap, I'm all ears... Lancaster is a bit of a ride, but w/e. I would like to do a ride by the Jersey shore, but there really isn't much good riding there, so PA probably is the best bet.
Definitely going to have to do something different this year though. I don't mind camping, but the whole pouring rain and children's tent thing weren't so cool. Maybe I can con someone to follow me with their car this time, hmmmm...
If anyone from NY or Northern NJ/PA wants to ride down, let me know.
dammit.
I'm in France from June 30 to July 14. It would be a little to far for me to make a side trip and meet up
I swear I am star-crossed when it comes to these get-togethers, I will never make a group ride
Yey!
-Anti 8)
I'll have 2 kids by then. :o
I don't think my wife would appreciate me ditching the new fam for a bike get together.....I can always try. :)
Its ~340 miles for me...thats a bit farther than I think I can go... :dunno_white: Guess I'm going to the Mass meet
I hear ya it was 376miles to White Haven for me....I put my bike in my p/u truck :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff: which worked out well because it rained non-stop on the way there and then on the way....but it was clear the day the group took a ride. 8) 8) 8)
Hey here's hershey INFO
one day is $45.95
or group rate for 20 is.....well I'll call if we can get that many people

IF you push it back a week let me know!! I don't have plans that weekend yet (July 14th). :)
Hey all,
This is looking good. I'm pretty free all July, but it would be nice to push it to the weekend of the 14th. I'm on vacation from the 29th to the 4th, so it would be nice to get a breather in. But either way I should be up for it.
I'm actually in the same boat as pdg108, I'll be out of the country for the week prior to this trip. I can make it for the 7th but I'd to get some home time in, so moving back a week would be nice.
i'll have to read details but i think im in. and what about amanda? you cant forget her!!

Hi all,
I'm in Lancaster and would love to be part of this trip. I missed last year at the last moment and still regret that.
So the date is July 14?
Thanks,
Todd
HEY HEY HEY!!! I got Jace's message today....My bf and I want to come on this trip, (I'd probably ride on the back of his), so when the date gets a little closer we can decide. It will be so fun, and we can come back home and make everyone jealous like we do every year! I can't wait to meet all the other GSchicks...and see my girl Jules again. Thanks for remembering me Chris. Someone get Wayne in on this...we ran into him at the mall this past weekend.
Hey all... I'm in for July 14th! Cool beans, sounds like a good time again! i have Chris2P, Wayne and Gino's cell phone numbers, so I'll send them a message telling them about this! I'll also see if Steve and some others I know are up for it. I can't wait to see you all again!
Thx for letting me know Jace!

So here's the dealils: We need to decide on
option 1)
EVeryone meet up in Lancaster Friday night/Saturday. Then SAturday I figure we can all go for a group ride out on rt 15/30 and other roads<<<research pending>>> have a cook out or something at a park that evening then Sunday head out to Hershey Park (30miles away from Lancaster)
option 2)
reserve tent sites/cabins at a state park near/around Lancaster and then go for a ride ^^^^ then Sunday go to Hershey.
The problem is that I don't know where any Parks are in Lancaster, There is a state park, Coctin State Park about 35-40miles south of Lancaster. I will check to see about cabins and so forth and will let everyone know. They do have a lake and it is quite nice compared to other tenting facilities I have experienced. So keep an eye out for developments in this area.
Chris, Todd- help us out since your pretty local to Lancaster.
map of Lancaster

state parks
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/samuelslewis.aspx
Sameul Lewis State Park
only has picnic arear which would work well with option 1 (hotels/motels)
Susquehannock State Park
has tent sites on a "group rate" size
http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/western/cunninghamfalls.html
Cunningham State Park
has it all but is a about 75miles S/E of Lancaster
I vote to just reserve a picnic pavillion at a local Lancaster park for saturday evening....What do you gals/guys think?
Thanks for the text Jules.........and Amanda, it was nice seeing you help Manny pick out his make-up...LOL(inside joke). As for the trip, I will most likely be away on vacation that week. If not, I will certainly try to hook up. Hope to ride with everyone soon.

Hi Jace et al,
Actually, a really fun trip is from Lancaster up to Shamokin, with pretty roads in between, including some hairpins and winding stuff, and a GREAT old fashioned burger place -- where they still make them by hand -- called American Lunch in downtown Shamokin.
A must visit kind of place.
It's about a two hour ride there from Lancaster.
We could still get back and to Hershey area in time for whatever everyone wants to do there.
If you all want to see Amish country, the real thing, I can take you on a 100-mile loop here locally that is beautiful and relaxing. There's even an Amish natural foods shop that's off the beaten path -- not a tourist stop.
What would you all want to see?
There's even horse polo matches in Southern Lancaster County on Sunday mornings on a regular basis. Different and fun to watch.
Let me know.
Thanks,
Todd
Todd,
Thanks :thumb: I offically recomend you to come up with a 100-120 mile loop for Saturday. When you know the roads let us know and post it up here :)
From experiences at White Haven, try to avoid highways and bussy intersections in towns. The group gets cut off. Then the police have to set us right agian..... :flipoff: :flipoff: fYI no U-turns in PA everyone :bs:
So let us know about that. Do you have any experience with the parks mentioned on page 3? Or know of any parks with a picnic type of area? -send me a PM if you have information

I'm motel all the way. my other half is on the back of the bike, and I don't feel like packing anything except a rain suit, plus a hot shower and real bed....I can't think of a reason to go camping....
I was debating weither a 3 day tour might be a bit much...Hershey dosn't open until 10:00 am, I'm half tempted to just stay the night friday and go riding in the morning (saturday) then end up at Hershey about noon.
It is 3 weeks away

Hi all,
Hey, before you go and buy tickets for Hersheypark at retail for $45.95, you can buy DISCOUNT Hersheypark tickets at any Giant Foods store here in Lancaster, Hershey, Harrisburg, etc., for $34.95 each.
And the local AAA offices sell them for $34 if you are a AAA member (I am if people need tickets). They are open Saturday morning until noon here in Lancaster.
Let me know if you need help or info on where to find a Giant Foods store.
See you all soon,
Best wishes,
Todd
It has been kind of dead in here. I kinda feel like it's just me Julie and this HD person :icon_rolleyes: (I couldn't resist J) I know Paul and others are on vacation this weekend so hopefully something turns around here.

Well I will either way it just might be a group of 2 :icon_confused:
Great Info Todd!
E-bay express also has them for $34.95...+$3 to ship...I guess someone is making money on shipping after buying them from Giant :icon_twisted:

Hi all,
Well, I only live 30 minutes from Hershey so I plan to join the group for the Saturday ride and get-together, etc. Not sure if I want to do the Hersheypark thing on Sunday, but we'll see.
Like I said, I know some great places to ride -- there are pretty Amish country routes around Lancaster County and there is the most amazing hamburger joint in the state in Shamokin, PA, about two hours north, where they hand make the patties and grill a huge pile of pnions the old-fashioned way. Worth the ride and nice roads, too.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all.
Anyone having trouble finding a place to stay here?
:)
Yours,
Todd

I'm taking my bike to get inspected tomorrow after work... if it's not raining.
Sorry guys, been busy with vacations and such. Doesn't look like I'm going to make this one. Just a bit to far for a day ride, and staying overnight just doesn't work out for the schedule. Hope you all have a great time though. I'll be hoping for good weather for you guys. :thumb:

Hi all,
OK, so what is the plan here?
I just want to be certain about what days we are talking about for each activity. We've been discussing it here on the board for so long I think I'm confused. :)
Is everyone meeting at 3 p.m. Friday at Wal-Mart on Route 30?
Is that when you're talking about having a group dinner and ice cream and get-together?
Or are you talking about everyone meeting for the first time at 3 p.m. on Saturday? If that's the case, will there be time for the 85-mile ride on Saturday?
Sunday, I know the plan is for the group to head to Hersheypark. :)
I just want to be sure we all have the details right! :)
And remember, I live here if you need tools, or help, etc.
Should we e-mail our cell phone numbers to each other so we have them? (Better than posting them on the Web where the world can see them).
Best wishes,
Todd
Hi there,
Honestly, if you want to take a really pretty ride, then let's go through Lancaster County Amish country.
From Wal-Mart on Route 30, we would take Route 340 -- Old Philadelphia Pike -- east to Route 10, where we'd hang a left and go north. We'd wind up that road to northern Lancaster County, and take a left in Morgantown onto Route 23, then hang a right onto Route 322 (lots of Amish and buggies and farms up here). Finally we can turn left and and head south on Route 222 back to Route 30, then go west on Rt. 30 back to Wal-Mart. There are backroads too, that I can take you all on to avoid 222 if you want.
Anyway, this is very pretty and gives you the flavor of the area.
What do you think?
The weather report here for Saturday is exceptional with lots of sun and temps in the low 80s and low humidity. It should be great.
Are you sure nobody wants to meet here until 3 p.m.? It seems like that's late in the day to me. :)
Yours,
Todd
Hey ya, alll those route sounds good to me, I can only see/view mapquest and google Earth-that's like not really helpful to find a good route, but I wanted to stay in the 50-60mile range b/c my bike is not comfortable then throw in a girl friend that is very clingy and my body just can't take it ontop of the travel to get to Lancaster. Atleast not a sport bike with clip-ons
Everyone is meeting at 3:00 on the rt. 30 Walmart parking lot. This will allow us to check in at the hotels (@2:00) and drop luggage off and avoid the sizzlling heat...I just figured since were not meeting until 3:00 our ride should include dinner:)....Back on page 5 or something the gang was going to do some other things but they never got planned/reserved....so this is Plan B....
Hi Jace et al,
This ride I'm suggesting is easy and relaxing, so I hope it will work for you.
We can stop for dinner when we get to northern Lancaster County or we can head back toward Lancaster and eat.
What are people up for?
A great local diner?
Just my opinion -- local Lancaster County Amish cooking is BLAND. :) So if you want the all-you-can-eat Amish experience, you should be forewarned. :)
There are other fun things to see and do, and some nice nightspots if we want to go for coffee, or whatever that night.
If you want to e-mail our cellphones to each other, that would be cool so we can better meet up.
Best wishes,
Todd
I think Todd's ride sounds nice, but thats just my 2 cents. :-)
The Walmart at 3pm (Saturday) on Rte. 30 is just off of 222 South right? (I've been down that way before to the outlets and near Dutch Wonderland... is the Walmart near that?)
Chris2P called me tonight and he has to work on Saturday so he won't be making it this time. So it looks like I'll be meeting you at Walmart with my "gang" of me, myself and I, lol.
I'm not so sure yet if I'll be going to Hershey Park on Sunday though. I only live an hour away so I'm planning on heading home after Saturday's "festivities".

Hey Todd,
Do you have a map of the route you're talking about riding? I'd like to print it out and bring it with me if you have one.
Depending how the early part of Saturday goes for me, maybe I'll meet up with you earliter than 3pm to do a little riding beforehand if you're up for it?
I'll have to let you know though, if you're up for it.
Hi Julie,
The Wal-Mart is not "just off" Route 222 but is about 6 or so minutes EAST.
When you come down Route 222 South you will go straight OVER Route 30 on the overpass and head WEST on Route 30 West.
You'll pass about five exits and take the one for Route 462, also called Lincoln Highway. When you turn off on that ramp, you'll come to a traffic light. Across the road on the other side is Wal-Mart and it's parking lot.
If you stay on Route 30 West and go past a Pep Boys Auto Store and Kmart, then you went just a bit too far.
I'm working on finding a map I can send to you of the Saturday proposed route. :)
I'll post it here too, if I can find something.
I sent you a personal message with my cell phone and told you that an earlier ride on Saturday would be great. Let me know!
Best wishes,
Todd
Hi again Julie et al,
OK, here is a Google map that we can use.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Lancaster+County,+PA&ie=UTF8&ll=40.122191,-76.05423&spn=0.360714,0.637207&z=11&om=1
I hope this helps.
From Wal-Mart we head EAST out Old Philadelphia Pike Route 340 to Route 10, then we turn LEFT to head north.
We take Route 10 all the way up to Morgantown and then turn LEFT or WEST on Route 23.
At Blue Ball (I'm not making this up), we turn right or WEST again onto Route 322 toward Ephrata.
We can then either head SOUTH on Route 222 or take a prettier back way back to Lancaster and to the Wal-Mart where the hotels are located.\
It's a nice ride, with pretty scenery and lots of Amish farms and places to see.
I can even take you to an Amish health food store which is fabulous if you want a mini field trip just off Route 340 in Lancaster County. It's fun and there is great stuff to buy there including bagged nuts, dried fruits, etc.
It's worth a visit if you want to go there.
We can also stop at the rural Smoketown Airport if you want to see a fun little flying field.
I like the sights as well as the ride, so stopping is fine with me if you want to see things.
See you soon,
Yours,
Todd
Sorry everyone...we had a pretty serious incident here at work this morning, gonna be a long day (I'm just getting my lunch break now at 3pm). I'm not going to make it to Hershey.  :2guns: :2guns: I was really looking forward to meeting you all damn my bad luck.
Hi all,
OK, here's a ride report for our long-awaited Hershey/Lancaster summer 2007 ride today...
Despite a long list of people who said they'd attend over the last few months, it was only the most dedicated, the coolest and the nicest bikes who showed up in the Lancaster Wal-Mart parking lot at 3 p.m. today. :)
We even waited until 4:30 p.m. for the stragglers whom we were sure would eventually appear, but it was not to be, so it was just three bikes and five motorcyclists who gathered for the ride.
The group was made up of Jason (Jace009gs) from Maryland and Nick (bargovic) from Williamsport, PA, Jason's girlfriend, Kayla, Nick's wife, Jen, and me. Actually, Kayla was tired from the three hour ride from Maryland and she stayed back at the motel while we went riding. The rest of us talked and got to know each other a bit in the parking lot as we waited for others, so the time was very enjoyable.
At 4:30, the three motorcycles -- Nick and Jen on their 2005 GS500F, Jason on his Yamaha 750 sport bike and me on my 1991 GS500E, headed east on touristy Route 340, through Bird-In-Hand, Intercourse and White Horse, PA, through the Amish countryside, seeing lovely lush farms, tall fields of corn, horse-drawn buggies galore and a myriad of roadside stands selling quilts, fresh fruit and vegetables. All along the route we saw Plain people using Weedwackers and mowing their lawns with manual reel mowers. Ah, Lancaster County in the summertime!
We stopped in Intercourse, PA, for the obligatory tourist photos (they're on Nick's camera, so we have to wait for him to post those!) then headed north on Route 10 for a curvy, nice ride through the quiet countryside.
In Morgantown, PA, we headed west on Route 23 through the rural hamlets of Churchtown and Goodville, riding through lovely and hilly countryside dotted with more Amish farms and bountiful fields of corn and alfalfa.
We then headed west on rural Route 322 toward Ephrata, then zipped down to Brownstown, where we stopped for dinner at a Sonic drive-in -- carefully selected because Nick's wife Jen has seen Sonic ads but had never been to a Sonic before. You should do something new every day. :)
We pulled our bikes into a drive-in stall and waited for the roller-skate-clad waitresses (not all are talented enough to skate and some are in sneakers -- NO TIP FOR THEM!) to bring us our dinners, which we ate sitting outside at a table in the lovely breeze. :)
After dinner, we headed west again, this time to Lititz, PA, where we went to a local go-kart track and tore the place up. That was fun. :)
We then headed south to Route 30 and I guided Jason and Nick back to their motel and wished them all a fun day tomorrow at Hersheypark (I live here, so going to Hersheypark isn't as exciting to me anymore -- I'm not an amusement rides guy -- I'll ride my motorcycle anywhere but I don't enjoy putting my life into the hands of some 16-year-old who runs the amusement rides there). :)
It was a 94-mile, very satisfying, lovely ride that was fun even though the turnout was low, but we all made several new friends and I think that was worth the whole day. :)
I hope to see more of you soon.
Jason, Nick, Kayla and Jen, please be sure to post your photos and your experiences at Hersheypark after you are there tomorrow, too!
Best wishes,
Todd
