Title: New bike
Post by: Scorpio65 on December 15, 2006, 01:24:15 PM
Well a couple of weeka ago i bought my new bike. I got the 06 Honda VFR Interceptor. WOW what a bike !  :thumb:  It is heaver than most sport bikes, but you don't even notice it while riding. It handles great and drops in the corners and comes right back up with little or no effort at all. Not sure what to do with my GS500 yet... For now its going on the shelf. Thinking about redoing it, power coat the frame black, new paint, double head lights, rebuilding motor. Or making a track bike out of it ...  :dunno_white:

Sometimes I wish I got gotten the VFR instead of the VTR.

You're so damn lucky.  The hotness. . . smooth chocolate lips. . . glistening.

I need pics!  Right now!!!

Tell me you got the '07 with the throw back paint!

I hope you got this one.  The white looks good too, as does black. So cool.

Sorry to tell you this, but that paint should have stayed in the 80's. They had one at the bike show in Phoenix, I just couldn't get into that paint.. I got the black because it fits with what i want to do with the bike.

What would that be?

The black would make a good base for another color. I'm thinking maybe a red pin strip, but not sure yet. Also i'm thinking about having the rims chrome plated. But not srue about that yet ...

What color are the rims now?

I can't believe you dissed the 80's paint.

sorry about the paint, the 80's need to stay in the 80's.  the rims on it are a dull silver color. so i thought the chrome with the high gloss pearl black paint would really look good.

The paint on that '07 is pretty damn nice...

...but the motor needs some serious excitement thrown in it.

At least they 'fixed' the vtec problem that almost every vfr owner complains about...

That's hot.

Pablo, what was the problem with the VTEC?

The increase in power delivery was a bit too abrupt when the bike would open all four values at higher RPMs.  Imagine hitting the apex of a turn and cracking the throttle open just a bit, but having the bike react like you just went WOT.

They sort-of-kind-of fixed it by lowering the rpm threshold when all four values open up, but I've heard mixed reports.  Some people still complain about it, although it's apparently not as bad.

But wow, the sound of the bike when all four values open up is awesome.

^^^what he said. If you were tooling along the twisties at less-than-trackday pace the vtec would kick in mid turn. My friend had one and he ended up selling it because of that. He found the people that own the vtec vfr's are in denial about it, as was Honda, but by lowering the rpm at which it hits they [honda] pretty muched owned up to the mistake without admitting anything. The british mags have been relentless about their criticism of the vtec but the US mags seem to only mention it in passing.

the pre-vtec vfr's are still considered one of the best all-around bikes, even better than the vtec versions.
