Negotiated the deal today, and I'm picking up my GS500 (e, for those who are curious) next saturday. Needs minor fixes, but everything major is straight, so I still think I got a deal:
- broken clutch lever
- scratched tail plastic (left side)
- broken tachometer
- bent gauge bracket
$400 for the bike: it's a '98 with 11k on the clock. O0
Since the clutch lever needs replaced, the bars might be tweaked, and I'll probably end up going with clip-ons. And, of course, since I'll be going with clip-ons, I'll probably fab some rearsets. And I can't do riding position without doing suspension as well; not to mention, I could do a race tail to replace the damaged plastic... (trails off)
Oh yeah, does anybody have any experience with aftermarket shorty levers, like those from Pazzo?
Edit: Forget about the levers. I like spending money, but $160 a set is NUTS.
GRATS ON THE BUY
Big Congrats man  enjoy!
$400! I paid $1100 for my '97 with 11,000 and it needed a lot more work.
Depending on how bad the gauge bracket is bent you probably can bend it back into shape. It's frustrating and tedious but can be done.
If you want a sportier look and position without spending a lot of money on converting to clip-ons, the bikemaster clubmans are okay. The SM2 bars are even nicer, but much more expensive.
Great deal!! Congrats!!! :thumb:
I'll say it now, but in all fairness you have a week.... :icon_mrgreen:

I challenge anyone to find a picture of my motorcycle.
Nice pickup and welcome to the bottom fisher's anonymous!
