Post by: Jughead on December 27, 2006, 10:15:46 PM
I'm starting off Kinda Light with a Set of 8Lb Dumbells to help get the Strength back in my Right Shoulder. In High School 11 Years Ago I was Able to Bench Press 300Lbs but After School I quit Lifting Much other than What I done at work on the Farm. After I slowed down on the Farm I completely Seperated a Tendon under my Right Collar Bone and it has Given me Trouble ever since.Too Help Keep the Pain Down I want to start Light because I tried 16lbs Per Arm Straight out the First day I got the Dumbells and thought I was going to Have to Lay in bed for a few days.I figure If I build up Slowly Hopefully I can Get by the Pain in my Neck and Shoulder Eventually.Anyway Even with the 8lbs I'm Starting to See a Difference After a week.I was Just Wondering If I could use any of the Supplements like from GNC to Help Build a Little More Mass.Ayway anybody ever use this stuff? :dunno_white:

I wouldn't bother with the Creatine.  That stuff just goes right through you and out in your urine.  You can smell it when you pee.  Start taking protein sups or start a high protein diet.  I prefer diet.  As far as burning fat, I'd go with xenedrine NRG pills.  Take 4 thirty minutes before breakfast, eat light, and go run.  They have some new stuff called hare core, but I wouldn't touch it.  It's for folks that have a high tolerance built up to the regular pills.  The customer service rep will try and sell you the "hard core" form.  Anyway, don't worry about burning fat right off the bat.  Worry about building mass.  After you're bigger than your ideal size, you can cut out the heavy lifting, and start cutting.  By the time you get to your ideal size, you'll have replace most of your fat with lean muscle, so your cut wont be too extreme.  ohh and buy Arnold's Modern Encyclopedia or Body Building.  It's spot on.  oh yeah, get some NO2 or something similar to speed up your recovery time.  Keep log books of all sups taken, measurments, weight, workout preformed, and cardio daily.  I use a 5 subject notebook.  That's all I can think of for now.  Keep us posted.

To cure a long-frozen shoulder, I had a medical dislocation on the operating table. It worked but left the shoulder very tender and the lack of use where I had sheilded it for months previous left it very weak. I saw a physio who gave me mainly stretching exercises and then "prescribed" a thing that was little more than a large rubber band. I then had to do the exercises against the tension of the band, gradually increasing both tension and workload. It worked for me.

Herbalists here advocate a substance called, well pronounced G00-GA-LOO, it might be Gougaloux or something like that, it assists in the process of turning fat into muscle and as muscle is heavier than fat the diet freaks don't seem to have latched onto it yet, MY GF uses it along with AB exercises and it appears to work.

Good luck and i hope your shoulder improves.

If you don't want a personal trainer, you should track your progress and use a pre-designed work out to keep you motivated.  Go to www.menshealth.com  They have a "Personal Trainer" computer program you can tailor to your needs.  Print it out every week and track your results.  I highly recommend it.  Stick with their workout for four months and it will be minx season.

Good luck.

Any suggestions for a lactose intolerant person trying to gain mass? Most protein supplements go straight through me.  :dunno_white:

I would suggest you take a glutamine supplement also, this will help reduce soreness.  It won't do anything to make you bigger, just help you not be so sore.  I agree with jarrett, you don't need to really start off with creatine, just start off with high protein diet.  You can also make protein shakes if you can't get enough protein through diet, I would suggest getting chocolate flavored powder and mix it with chocolate milk so it won't taste so bad.  Also, don't worry about cutting down the body fat, your muscles can use it as fuel when you start getting bigger.

Creatine, if I remember correctly, is a synthetic chemical that aids in the build up of muscles, it's not steroids and won't shrink your junk.  When you start talking about Androstack or anything that has andro in front of it or in it, that is when you start talking about weak, legalized steroids with possible testicular shrinkage as a side-effect (only shrinks the potatoes and not the steak).  When you start getting bigger, creatine will help you get even bigger, but some mass will come off when you cycle off of it (which you should do: 6-8 mo on, 4-6 mo off).  Kind of a vicious cycle, but it does help allot.

As for seamax... I would eat eggs and meat to get protein instead of supplements.  I use to have chicken for breakfast, fish for lunch, and pork or beef for dinner as well as taking 3 protein, creatine, glutamine, and amino acid shakes a day... and ya allot of that was wasted but I was young and dumb and wanted to get big.

Egg Beaters.  They taste awsome (they come in ham and cheese flavor now as well as southwest).  They are low in (like zero), extremely low in calories, and have a lot of protein.  Easy to make too and super easy clean up.

I was taking protien shakes, but I've recently just been eating a crapload of food. It's much more enjoyable as food tastes much better than protein shakes. I just eat till I'm full, and then keep eating. But of course you have to  work out to turn that food into muscle. Creatine works. All there is to it. I got the "just eat alot" advice from someone on here and I love it. I love eating 2 meals at one time when I go out to eat. I've gained 23 pounds since August ish just eating as much as I can

From what I've heard, about 10% of the creatine you consume makes it to your muscle tissue intact.  This is not uncommon.  Many drugs and supplements are partially broken down in the GI tract (it's a harsh environment down there).  This is frequently compensated for in the dosage.  Of course, this also means that 90% of it is metabolized and probably removed by way of the kidneys, which probably isn't so great for you.

I used Creatine in conjunction with increased workout intensity and protein intake with excellent results several times.  You will gain a lot of weight, and about half of it will be water, but if you push harder at the gym, a little creatine goes a long way to decrease recovery time and increase energy,  in my opinion.  Each time I used it I gained about 15 lbs in 6 weeks, then lost 5-10 lbs within two weeks of going off and losing the water weight.

5-10 lbs of lean muscle in two moths is a pretty good return.

If you really wanna get BIG, like those dudes on the world's strongest man competitions, eat tons of red meat.  That's what they do (in addition to supplementation of course.  I'm all for supplementation, but there is something to be said for natural source nutrients as well.

I think creatine works too.  I should have used it during my football career but I'm not sure its effects were fully understood by me back then (up 'til 97).  I tried it when I was in law school and got big fast and dirty strong.  I just don't have the need for that kind of mass anymore.
